Nobody will outwork Coach Menzies in recruiting. Besides McCoy he's on some other 4 and 5 star players. Signing this guy could soften the blow of no MM last 2 years. I don't think it's too far fetched for a 5 star to want to stay home and represent SD/ hometown. IF McCoy surprises and stays home, then we will have our pick high rated players who want to play with McCoy and make a deep run. Man are we due for some exciting news!! We are due for disappointing news he has MSU and UNLV as favorites as of right now we are not really in the game.

We need to hire someone to shadow this kid, no excuses, tired of hearing about "we travel in propeller planes" vs blue bloods Lear jets excuse, he's right here, we don't need a jet. We need someone who can build a relationship, trust, and confidence so this kid is comfortable staying in americas finest city!

Nothing wrong with McCoy...but the primary local focus should be on Norris and Cherry...those guys are legit studs...whereas McCoy looks tough against high school players...but I have to wonder about him playing at the next level (although it can be said that you can't coach "tall"...so there is that much)

The McDonald's All Star game will be on TV - most likely ESPN family . People should get a good look at McCoy and other top rated recruits- most headed to P5 schools . That will tell a lot how good he is . If he hopes to be one and done - would guess he zero's in on a P5 school . they get better TV exposure and better chances to play in MM . MW TV coverage is considered brutal by most . conference games are considered irrelevant . Yes if he went to UNLV or SDSU he would be instant starter - so even if he dominates what are Pro Scouts going to say ?
yes 2018 local recruits are very good and as they move to the top of the ratings - what do you think are the chances we sign them ? A lot could be determined by how we use our 5 and 4 during the 2017-18 season ?
If Malik comes back and gets to play his position the 3 and Zylan plays his best position the 4 and we get good production from Nolan or ? Then we could be considered a good front court . But still a lot of IFS - does Malik return and get to play the 3 , Where does Zylan play . Can Nolan make improvements at the 5 or can we get a quality 5 ? Also will our guards be more pass first or continue to dribble then shoot . ?

I'd be a helluva lot happier w/ 2 of them and ecstatic w/ all 3 of them.

New scout article out there. Realistically we may be a long shot, but we have never been in this recruiting stratosphere before and there is a very real possibility he stays at home. No overtly positive things come from being second on a recruit's final list, but you never know when a kid will want to stay close and be a hometown hero. That article says he has two programs that are standing out, and my gut says it's UA and Oregon. But there's still a chance (...*insert dumb and dumber gif*...)

Yeah but in the section after that he talks about setting himself up for life outside of basketball. You can be a legend every time you come home to San Diego or a guy who has to visit OR/AZ to get that love. If you want to be a Dr that involves going to class...c'mon man.

Where do things stand with it?
As far as schools, right now my top five is: Arizona, Michigan State, UNLV, San Diego State and Oregon.
Lets go through each of them and discuss what you like…
Michigan State: great, great coach. Coach Izzo is a Hall of Fame coach. When I went out there it was like a family oriented program, they all loved each other like brothers and you know I felt comfortable around the guys.
UNLV: Coach Menzies, he was at New Mexico State before. He has some flaws and stuff and all that but he made the best of it and he produced a big man to go to the league and stuff so he told me about that. It’s UNLV so they’re trying to bring it back, they were number one in the nation at one point in time and go there and bring it back!
Oregon: Coach Altman you know they’re in the Final Four right now and when I went out there my brother went there, Dwayne Benjamin, he is in Australia right now but he went out there and he just loved it and he just got better and stuff and coach knows what he’s doing.
Arizona: Sean Miller is a great coach, probably going to be one of the best coaches to coach as far as time goes by and it’s Arizona, you know they produce so many lottery picks, Stanley Johnson and so on so that’s a great place to go.
SDSU: is right at home. Steve Fischer is a Hall of Fame coach once again, you know Fab 5, it goes back through history with him. Like I said it’s right at home so nobody has to leave, I can be close to my uncle you know be close to everybody and everyone can goes to my games so it’s a lot to think about.

What school can get him the exposure on TV nation wide during their regular season and probably into a deep run in MM ? Possibility of a 1 and done ? Hurts MW schools to have our TV deal and what people think of the MW nationally .
Playing in the All Star games this week , could be interesting , Should give him and others their thoughts of how he stacks up with team mates in the All star game and competition . Also hearing what guys are leaving early from what schools ?
All schools can give reasons why they think he will go there . no one knows and not sure he does either as of today .
Would also not bet on us getting the local guys for 2018 - sure seems that talk has been that they prefer PAC ? We are going to need to get off to a quality start for 2017-18 season , to show we are back with a chip on our shoulder.

Michigan State trying to claim the "Chicago hometown hero" angle is so Trumpian-level preposterous
