The wisest choice, if you don't like a thread or topic or poster:
Don't read it, move on. It's pretty basic and very simple. Obviously the topic interests you or you would not take the time to read it.

Let’s get this out of our system and move on. Start Saturday off fresh and starting Saturday lock all threads about hiring a new coach and immediately lock any new threads. But I say allow new ones again after the season is over. Don’t delete just lock. No. Our opinions should not be filtered.

It just gets old - the same old thing with a different thread title. Same topic, different thread. You just described a large chunk of threads that have been created on this forum. I seriously come on here every week and find an average of 2.5 threads on the same topic/issue, and all of those go untouched. There is nothing wrong with criticizing a head coach on his/her performance. The "candidates" that people are suggesting in these threads are irrelevant to the real issue, which is poor coaching. If you start censoring individuals on this board and lock threads that are not in violation of any board rules, then people will find a new place to post.

New coach, Zuma, Red helmets, on campus stadiums and Steveaztec' jeez why didn't you stop them? Why not shut them all down when someone gets their feelings hurt. Just wrong!

These posts wait until the season is over? How can you call these posts productive and educational? You can speculate on a new coach when the old one is fired. Would a coach want to come here knowing he will not get support like the old one? Its not like these guys are coaching pop warner. They get paid to perform in an extremely high profile place. Coaches know they have to win. Coaches know they have to improve, produce. The fans need to hold them accountable. I just wish the "impeachment" process was available to us! That would keep one from using crazy crackpot theories drummed up by a professor and go out on the recruiting trail and sell yourself to kids on why they should play for you. The kids don't come to you, you go to them. And you better have something to offer the kids. I don't believe a single NFL team runs the 3-3-5 defense, so why in the world would a kid striving for the NFL come play the defense we use?? We are already 3 to 4 years from a ranking as it is where under Hoke were were 1 to 2......Hoke had Ball St. in the top ten for pete's sake!! I say cut the losses as soon as you can, we are going to a conference that could make us look real bad, and it's not considered top level by most.

Somebody must have been influenced by J. Edgar Hoover. Tsk.. tsk.. way too touchy if you ask me.

I see this has turned into another coaches thread.
Dennis Franchione(sp).
The guy knows how to win. Has deep recruiting ties in TX. Could get a great start back in San Diego.

Yes, please. No new head coach threads as long as our winning percentage is .500 or higher.

I don't think your opinion either way should go into the decision on whether to keep the threads up. It's the quantity of them that's over the top, not the question. Just create an "Official Coaching Future Thread" and delete any other threads that pop up. He gets it. Looking for a new coach just isn't realistic at this point, it's not news in any way, and any new thread doesn't add anything new to the conversation that hasn't already been discussed. One thread is enough. We all know Rocky's strengths and weaknesses and his pros and cons. Some like him, some don't, and we've all seen everyone's two cents every week. Posting it weekly doesn't make it any more relevant or novel. Yeah, there are other repeat threads as well. We've beat the idea of a new stadium to death, but the Chargers' underperforming ticket sales, our agreement with the city coming to an end, and the constant LA talk mean that there are changes that SHOULD have us thinking about where we'll be in a few years. And yes, maybe we should be thinking about where coaching will be in a few years. But realistically, Rocky is still going to be here in a few years. Let me remind you of the winning percentages of our head coaches since 1961. I've bolded the guys that have a better W% than Rocky. Totally objectively, he's not going anywhere. One thread on the topic is plenty. Hell, sticky it. It's not about censorship, it's about not adding anything constructive to an already pointless conversation. Don Coryell (Washington ’50) 1961-72, .840 Claude Gilbert (San Jose St. ’59) 1973-80, .697Doug Scovil (Pacific ’52) 1981-85, .432 Denny Stolz (Alma College ’55) 1986-88, .457 Al Luginbill (Cal Poly - Pomona ’67) 1989-93, .534 Ted Tollner (Cal Poly ’62) 1994-01, .473 Tom Craft (San Diego St. ’77) 2002-05, .396 Chuck Long (Iowa ’85) 2006-08, .250 Brady Hoke (Ball State '80) 2009–2011, .520 Rocky Long (New Mexico '71) 2011-present, .667

I've said it before and I'll say it again..until we're staring five losses in the face, coaching change discussion is premature and pointless. The bar is 8-4. Beat the Bulldorks and we're on our way. This is America and you can't fire a guy for what you think may happen. Give him a chance to succeed and your full support. He deserves it. If he fails (for me 5 losses) then you fire up the torches and let the heads roll. All you debbie downer, nervous nellie, can the coach today fans shot your wad too early.

Do like you did with requiting.
Make a separate place for replacing Coaches for all sports, Football, Baseball, Basketball, Water polo, whatever.
That way they are all in one place for those who want to comment on, or read about, coaching changes or how our coaches suck and don't know what they are doing.
That was the rationale for moving recruiting to a separate forum. It should work for this stuff too, since it comes up so often.
They need a separate forum so they are conveniently all in one place and we don't have to search the entire board for them.
Don't you think?

Point is...if he ain't going anywhere, neither are we. bang your drum if you must, but the tune is old and not gonna chart. And yet here you are joining in the fun. Rocky is far from the answer as we go into a higher level of play. And the point is that he will drag us down UNDER the bar, not vault us over it.
