Nah, the team that has beaten you like 8 of the last 10 times you have played them UNM is the team to beat. If I remember correctly UNLV won the last game. The team to beat? UNLV and SDSU are both going to be much better than UNM next year.

The best is the team that owns you and your city... The Best is the last team in your little "powerhouse" ready to implode conference that made a deep NCAA Run... The Best is the last team in your "powerhouse lol @ football rivalry UNM vs UNLV football" Conference to have a top 15 NBA Pick... The best is a sold out Regular season in April.. That is who the best is from the eyes of a UNLV Rebel who has lost 80% of it's games to the best... Bottom Line if we weren't the best and you weren't deathly afraid of us and our ownage of UNLV you would be on another teams message board.

If UNLV lands Bennett they are going to be very, very good. Even without Bennett, next year will probably be the most talented team they've had since they joined the MW. They should be the preseason pick to win the conference.
UNLV and SDSU are taking their games to another level and will be leaving UNM behind. I hope the MW is smart and schedules the UNLV/SDSU games on the weekend and CBS puts them on their main channel. Those games are going to be the best games the MW has ever had.

(Ask Steve Fisher how much he wanted Bryce Jones if you don't believe me) Expected to be #11 or #12 best recruiting class and best transfer class in the country. The polls will quickly show who they think the team to beat is. SDSU and UNLV were close in comparison...but Bennett will change that. He alone will give us the edge. Please get informed. Transfers

UNLV will be our bitch until you prove otherwise. And no, splitting the season series 1 year doesn't prove anything. We still won the conference regular season championship and made it to the finals of the tournament for the 4th straight year. You guys lost to the Pac 12. We haven't done that in 11 or 12 games. There's no guarantee you get Bennett. You'll be good next year, no doubt. But quiet yourself with the "team to beat" $#!+. You'll be watching us cut down nets in your own arena one last time this year. Enjoy 2nd place.

SDSU AZTECS UNLV RUNNING REBS
Thames Marshall (Sr.) Tapley (Sr.) Jones J. Franklin Moser Shepard (Fr.) Bennett*** (Fr.) Polee Birch
O’Brien Reinhart (Fr.) Rahon (Sr.) Hawkins (Sr.) Stephens (Sr.) Lopez Johnson Thomas (Sr.) L. Franklin Smith Spencer (Fr.) Morant (Fr.) Shringley (Fr.) Cook (Fr.) Williams Mashour
Both Teams should start 1 senior. Both teams have 3 Seniors and SDSU has 3 Freshman while UNLV has 4. I predict another Jamaal game winner at the buzzer!! Both Teams should be fun to watch next year. Definitely the games of the year in the MWC.

You are just so mad at life that we have won 8 of the last 10 against you... You are nothing more than a troll who is angry that we go to your building and cut down nets... you come to our building and the only thing being cut is your wrists after yet another Aztec Victory...
Enjoy football season you troll because the pathetic mess that is your football team wont be half as bad as the feeling you have after basketball season because you actually think you have a chance against us...

If the games were played on paper the Rebels would win most of the time vs. the Aztecs.
The truth is however, recent UNLV teams haven't played well during the stretch run of MWC seasons past. Last year's team was no different, losses at Wyo, TCU, New Mexico and Colorado St. earned this team another underachiever tag as they went from NCAA lock to bubble team.
Both the Aztecs and the Rebs will field great teams next year, but UNLV will implode in crunch time like they always do.

Really? Because I can find a half dozen, probably more, publications that already have SDSU above UNLV in next year's rankings, and those are including Reinhart, Birch, Jones, etc. for you and Polee, Shepard, O'Brien, etc. for us. So unless you guys get Bennett, all of these national publications already have us as the favorite. So I don't know what you are basing your predictions off of, considering nothing has changed since they have made their projections. But please, keep telling yourself that you have the team to beat. Heck, UNLV fans have been saying that every year as long as I can remember. Oh and let's not forget, if you don't get Bennett, you guys backed off your recruitment on him so you could save a scholarship for next year. Just complete the Rebel scum stereotype for all of us. Thanks.

Tell us something new. This has happened plenty, plenty of times over the past few years. You 'think' you have a better class looking at the players with a lot more 'stars' coming in your class and regularly fail. Don't you ever get tired of it?
Must hurt to get regularly owned in the present, doesn't it?
and Rice is?
As good as the players are, the biggest factor is the coach. The sport I love and watch the most is football/soccer, and I have seen how a good coach can make average players perform as world-beaters. So yeah, we still have the edge over you.

I have found great joy and have had many good laughs with the recent years of the UNLV hype machine getting worked over by "inferior" Aztecs teams, but I'm going to try to be much more objective than a lot of you here... If UNLV gets Bennett, which it looks like is a done deal to me, they will have the potential to be a top 10, even top 5 team in the country. Recent years have only proven the Rebels to be underachieiving, full of hype, without much to show for their "on paper" talent. Last year was probably the icing on the cake for us Aztec fans - watching a team with as much talent as UNLV had, only to completely melt down the stretch. Hard to pinpoint who to blame, UNLV coaches or players - but Id say it was a combo. New coaching staff, Rice maybe in over his head, and players who maybe weren't ready for the pressure of being a top 10-15 team. Who knows.
What I do know is that if UNLV gets Anthony Bennett, they will certainly be the team to beat out of the MWC from a national perspective. ESPN/media and coaches around the country will be aware of their monster recruiting class and will assume they will live up to their billing... and I am honestly not prepared to count UNLV out as the best team in the MWC next year. They return a few huge pieces from last year's squad and have a great transfer in Jones who has been with them for a year, and with Bennett, we would all be well aware of how strong the incoming class should be. We had virtually the same team in 2009-10 that scraped through the MWC tourney to get to the NCAAs as the one that went 34-3 and rose as high as #4 in the nation a year later. Experience is huge in college hoops. Anthony Marshall, Mike Moser, Justin Hawkins and Bryce Jones will help lead a very tough UNLV team in 2012-13.
The talent is certainly there... if they can keep their heads together they will make a serious run next season. I still have PLENTY of reservations here, believe me. We have earned our right to say "I'll believe it when I see it." All I'm saying is that they will have the talent that might make many Aztecs fans feast on a plate of crow a year from now.
At the same time, we are returning a ton of talent ourselves and have a much better class than most UNLV fans are willing to admit. Like I said, experience is huge in college hoops and we will have plenty of that. On paper, UNLV will have the sexier team, but the Aztecs are 100% in the running for sweeping the MWC regular and tourney titles next year (as in UNLV). This is a fact.
