I don't care about the capacity of our opponents gyms. I don't understand why people do. The only Arena I have been to in the MW is the T-Mac.

Yup...and the average attendance is pathetic in the Big West because most the teams are Division I bottom feeders and will likely always be. That will directly impact the crowds at Viejas. The San Diego community will not fill up an arena for UC Davis, UC Riverside, or any of the other teams in this league. The interest in our team will go down along with recruiting. Ask a top 50 recruit from L.A. if they would rather play in a league that regularly has top 25 teams like the PAC 12, or a league with Cal State Northridge or Cal Poly. It will be an easy choice for them.

LittleBigHorn, if you had the choice of keeping our Basketball team in the MWC (regardless of whether football leaves for the Big East) or moving to the Big West, which would you choose? Explain your answer. Well, I'm not LittleBigHorn, but I think all BE proponents would obviously rather stay in the MWC for bball, but that has never been presented as a viable alternative. I don't think anybody has ever argued the BW is a BETTER conference than the MWC if that's what you're getting after.

LittleBigHorn, if you had the choice of keeping our Basketball team in the MWC (regardless of whether football leaves for the Big East) or moving to the Big West, which would you choose? Explain your answer. The answer is MWC. But you are framing the question like a HS guidance councilor. You are ignoring the FACT that we do have a football team. That football team (no matter how painfully above average they are), for the past 11 years has brought in the TV revenue that has helped the basketball program make the most of that. The REALITY is that UNLV and UNM (the only reasons to stay in the MWC) have made long term financial commitments to basketball and have built the state of the art practice facilities that SDSU can't hold a candle to. Much to the chagrin of the football fans on here, a basketball practice facility and athletics kitchen/study facility IS the highest priority for capital right now. Not a football stadium. There is NO WAY that the athletic department can position itself to build that facility in the current MWC. You fail to realize that we live in a complicated world, and it requires loyal and intelligent individuals to make very complex decisions based on limited information. It is the business of college athletics. The real question, and I think the ONLY question that we have to answer here is...Does Craig Thompson have the best intentions for SDSU to grow and thrive in mind? That answer is a clear and unambiguous "NO". Sterk, and Pres. Hirshman know that. They had to make a move. It doesn't solve all of our problems but it clearly removes us from a business relationship that has become dysfunctional and harmful to the long term health of SDSU.

What I am trying to pull out of him is why he thinks the Big West will not be a step down for the Aztecs. He avoids answering that above. We all know that Football and Basketball are interconnected in the decision making. I just thought his comment that the Big West was not a step down was not at all accurate. From his comments, he thinks everything will be o.k. for our basketball program in the Big West and it won't impact our program.

I can't quite seem to pinpoint why but Pacific's gym doesn't look bad. Pacific (Capacity 6150)

What a joke those gyms are. $#!+, CSUN can't even handle our student crowd.

Football money and Aq status rules all. Sorry but this is a great move for the Aztecs in football and basketball.

oh really then why does the big east want boise? I didn't say AQ wasn't a factor, but AQ $ is nothing compared to TV $$$. AQ is fading away, and Boise still gives the BE creditability in the discussion. If SDSU can improve, and keep in step with Boise, both will have a good shot when the next conference shake out happens.

Thanks for taking the time to post those pics. Huge step back for our hoops program if we go to the Big West. Huge!
