If you wanted any useful or interesting information, don't expect it from this interview. Good to hear Hoke but was a waste of 10 minutes.

Hoke is absolutely awful at giving interesting interviews or doing anything of note through the media. As an Aztec fan, it is really underwhelming.
Of course, if he wins on Saturdays, I don't care if he speaks a single word the other 6 days of the week.

He can't talk about recruiting, he's not going to show their hand as far as anything strategically goes. Interviews with all football coaches are boring…it’s just them avoiding questions.

Agreed. All coaches seem to subscribe to that wonderful language known as coach-speak leading up to and during the season.

I sat in my car and listened for a few extra minutes today while he was on. I appreciate Hoke's confidence and find him to be a regular guy type of interview - like you're having a beer with him.

He rarely says anything new or very interesting. Greysuit is spot-on. We should be used to it and expect it. Coach-speak is the language of any good coach. Yet we still listen in to hear him say that we are working hard to improve. LOL. Fans are very silly people and we don't change much. I love it - I will do everything I can to be listening in to hear Brady interviewed then be disappointed when he doesn't say anything.

Wow did I miss something. The dim wit radio hosts asked Hoke about 5 times if he'd be coming to Del Mar. Those questions ought to really get us some football info. The coach can only respond to what the hosts are throwing at him!!

One of the 1090 hosts looked at the Aztec football schedule (on air) and made really disparaging comments. He said things such as: Wow, I don't know what these people are going to do but I look at this schedule and I don't see a single game that I would be excited about or want to go to. Then he asked Marty (the lady co-host) and she agreed that there was not a single game worth seeing or looking forward to. He made it sound like a huge crisis (the way talk radio guys often do) and commented that he was a on board with Brady Hoke but this is an absolutely dull schedule and almost impossible for the program to overcome.
Ok, I'm not saying what he said was altogether untruthful - especially for the casual fan. But find a little something positive to say for the Aztec faithful - even if we are few in number. When the Pads have been 15 or so games out at the all-star break this same radio team has always found some dim ray of hope they could throw out there for the die-hards. Point out that the qb is talented and can light it up, that we have great receiver talent, that we will probably be improved, that the defense should be better, that the games are not too crowded and not that expensive for a whole family. Anything to balance out the many dire, doom and gloom, doleful comments. Sorry for the rant - and yes, I will e-mail them and tell them how I feel.

sounds like Brady's group has done a lot .... recruiting and conditioning . Now they may need to do a little promoting to help get fans in the stands for the Nichols game, throwing out first pitch at the Padre game or something at the track to be as visible as possible to the sports fans. Get the coaches on as many radio shows as they can.The marketing dept should run with the Nickle promotions for the Nichols game, buy 4- tickets and get the fifth or sixth for a nickle .....

Is this what radio 1090 is trying to promote. Screw them and come on Aztec fans, get out to those games. Attachments:

But if you look at this picture closely, this was the game on Halloween. This was a horrible break to have a home game that evening. If you have a team that has been bad for years, you are going to get a lousy turnout on that day. I blame the SDSU marketing department. The did almost nothing to try to promote this game. I would think marketing professionals could come up with some ideas how to make it exciting for children and their families. But there was nothing that I could see.

MY point was that, yes, attendance is terrible, the team has not been good, on and on and on and so forth. I just would have liked it if they had found something - anything - positive or hopeful to say. I have already given many examples and could list many more if I cared to. Never is a program as good or bad as fans (or in this case radio hosts) can make them out to be. Fans are listening, find a little balance, it's wouldn't be that hard. Aztecjake found a sad picture that is telling regarding our attendance but I bet LA could find a shot that would put us in a (maybe just slightly) better light. Those guys owe to the Aztec fans listening to hunt for some little ray of light.

If they want more people at the games, tell them they can start by not losing to teams like Cal Poly, and tell them not to lose to any of the three cupcakes they have out of conference this year. Utah St. and New Mexico St. are not cupcakes. If you think they are cupcakes, you really aren't paying attention.

Utah St. and New Mexico St. are not cupcakes. If you think they are cupcakes, you really aren't paying attention. They were two of the worst teams in the WAC last year. Even the worst team in the MWC should be able to handle them and there's no excuse for not doing so. I have a feeling we'll lose to New Mexico State. I just don't think there's any excuse for it. I believe Utah State will continue to improve under UTE coaching alum Gary Anderson's leadership. Whether that equates to a win over SD State will depend on whether the Aztecs have improved under Coach Hoke' leadership.
