As for Craft v. Long, I'll go with Craft because he was the better drinker. That fact alone makes him the better AZTEC.  |

As the last poster on this subject  we didn't hire Bowden just as we didn't hire Tark. This school will never take that chance. We may waste millions on others but never take that chance. As for the "Great One" I think he would tell you he was forced to leave one way or the other. HOF this year. Sad! |

I suspect that Craft getting fully vested in the Calicornia State Employees Retirement System has as much to do with it as anything. Long could not carry Crafts water as far as coaching is concerned. Craft had (has) some personal problems if you believe all that you have heard. We will never know for sure, so just let it go away as a couple failed experiments. This is it, fully vested. |

He was quite comfortable where he was at the time he was hired as HC for SDSU. He didn't (does'nt) care about the notoriety or money that comes with the job. He had to be talked into being hired. Once there, he was all in and gave it his best effort for a guy who never ran a D1 program before.

....but if Hoke's team performs this year pretty much the same as last years team, should he be fired? I would think if so, then we can revisit the graveyard. (Who was the worst hire, Craft, Long, or Hoke?..  ) bull$#!+. You don't like Hoke for some reason on a personal level and it shows in everyone of your posts about the man. I'll ask again, what exactly is your problem with the guy? As this thread is hopefully winding down....as I said on a previous thread, this year I will focus on supporting this team and it's current leadership in anticipation of a successful season, (for me, at least six wins and a bowl game). If that happens, then I will again open the"vault" and throw my support where it counts, (not just academic). Now, answer my question, if the "side(line) of beef" and his 2010 team perform like the 2009 team, should he be fired? |

Still pulling up ghosts from the dead. Bowden is now as irrelevant as Long and Craft and.....My question at this point would be, the consensus seems to be that six wins is not an unreasonable expectation, but if Hoke's team performs this year pretty much the same as last years team, should he be fired? I would think if so, then we can revisit the graveyard. What I see too- gotta beat AF this year Steveo, I feel good about that AF game this year. Aztec football will turn the corner this season. Lindley and Co. had their worst game of the season, and it will likely be LIndley's worst game as an Aztec; the Defense, on the other hand, had their best game. Air Force loses a lot (I think much of their oline). I think this is a game that could be a real tipping point, as it is at home, I think our personnel can handle the triple option (and should be better this coming year anyways) and a victory will be a huge confidence boost. That game starts the 2nd 4 game season (OOC is the first, the AF, @ New MEx, @wyo, CSU stretch is the second. Say we do what we should and get to 3-1 OOC, battle hard against BYU, and then beat Air Force (which I think we are very capable of), we might start to pick up some steam. |

OK, LAST TIME on this thread, (but I couldn't help looking one more time, mybad). I would have thought you would have picked up on my (and mine alone), hangup with Hoke. The first time I saw him I thought maybe I should get him a membership to Vic Tanny's as a welcome to San Diego. When it comes to certain jobs I believe it's about ability and image. If the image is lacking then you better have one hell of an ability. We'll see about this one. I REALLY don't want to get back on this thread, but as I explained my hangup, are you now prepared to answer my question? |

I guess it's not the first time you've been wrong on here. I've been wrong plenty of times in my life and on this board. I can't wait for the season K5. I think it is the one we've been waiting for (at least a sign that we are progressing). I think the following year will bring the fans back. |

So i had to look up who Vic Tanny was - WOW - because dude is fat you don't like him and don't think he can coach? That is easily the silliest thing I have ever read on this board, and there have been a lot (hell i've written some of them)
Also, I find it funny that it is a pejorative to support the current coach that has been on campus for 20 months over the fired coach. I supported long until he showed major regression in year 3, I showed Craft support until in year 3 and 4 he showed the program was at best going to hover around 5/6 wins, I'll support Hoke until he likewise shows he is as incompetent as the other 2 whether or not he's a big dude
