LOL. Seriously? You think a FR Mensah would be playing defense at the same level as a 5th year senior Mensah? Shay is behind a 5th year senior in Mensah & Ledee. That's 10x who was on the roster during Nate's FR year. If he had a player on par with him as a 5th year senior & a Ledee he would rarely have seen the floor. But you knew that (or I'm getting the feeling you didn't). It's not "weak", it's reality. Mensah's defense as a freshmen was still very good. Good enough to play 15+ minutes a game on most Aztecs teams. If we had a 5th year senior version of Mensah, as well as a first year version of Mensah, we would give the 5th year version 25 minutes and the freshmen version 15 minutes, and we would shift LeDee/AG/DeShawn Stephens/Yanni/Malik Pope/Zylan Cheatham (whatever Aztec team you want to make this comparison with) to the 4. Pretty much the only players that we wouldn't shift to the 4 in that scenario are Skylar Spencer or Malcolm Thomas.I also don't know why you are comparing Mensah as a freshmen to Mensah as a 5th year senior, because Shay isn't a first year player in the program? Yet Saunders is, and got more minutes then Shay (and he's right, you could just shift LeDee or AG to PF if Shay was so talented that we had to fit him on the floor). Bottom line is, it doesn't inspire much confidence in Shay's abilities as a 5. He's probably a 10-15 minute a game backup for us, ala Angelo Chol or similar. Seriously? Pretty obvious. Shay is playing behind a 5th year Mensah, NOT a 1st year Mensah. He's also playing behind Ledee, and NO, they didn't shift Ledee to the 4. He RARELY played the 4. Dutch runs with a 9 man rotation & our mix of 5's this year is significantly greater & more talented than the mix of 5's ahead of Sky & Nate early in their careers. It's really not that complicated. I do find it funny that you think Ledee can guard 4's better than 5's. Not even close. THAT is a primary reason why he didn't play the 4 this year. You are who you can defend. Ledee can defend larger, stronger, slower bodies in the paint much more effectively than quicker 4s. Thankfully Dutch (& his 2 prior HC's) could see that, even if you couldn't.

Back to OP, Brown's still in play & an option, whether for this year or next year. They liked what they heard from his former coaches on him - very good with the ball. Diallo, from SJSU, is another big who just jumped into the portal & would be a good fit as well. Assuming he can stay healthy.

Ziegler also mentions Jay Pal a grad student
Coug you also mentioned was it Aziz
good to hear that Javonte did visit - is that correct ? and the report from some of his coaches - take it he would have to appeal to be able to play - but are they getting tougher to get the waiver

He missed virtually the entire season at UConn (5 total minutes), and transferred during the pandemic year. He's basically seeking a medical hardship, and basically saying he should be exempt due to not having a season before transferring. Our staff is VERY confident it would get granted, although I got the feeling they'd still prefer him to sit out & develop like Ledee. But now with option #1 in Allick going elsewhere....who knows? Yes, Aziz Bandaogo would be fantastic, easily my favorite. But a LOT of programs will be chasing him. Plus, his ability to play next season would be a tougher waiver to get, even though he's playing the "mental health" card. Jay Pal would have a lot of upside & fits the under the radar mold we've followed of late. A solid replacement for Keshad. He was arguably their best player down the stretch, and anyone who can drop 26, 10, 4, 2 & 1 on Ashville is a baller.

So take it Javonte has visited
Have any other players set up visits to SDSU or have Aztec coaches gone to visit any of the guys that have been mentioned or others

Talk about a double standard.

I think most of the joking with Stan is MOSTLY in good fun. I also think people should pay up the bets they make on a public forum or face ridicule. Who doesn't pay up a bet? That's LOW.
You're free to dislike sdcoug, but when you reply to every one of his posts that has nothing to do with you (with a jab or some form of sh*t-talking) it gets old. Yeah, I'd say that makes it a worsE place. Not to be confused with the worsT place. Anybody that reads the board completely knows how you feel. They can agree or disagree. If you feel the need to remind us five times a day, fine. That's your right, I guess. And I'm free to think that makes the board a worse place.

With a jab remark. So jabs, insults, and making fun of him. Even though he has to leave for months because of it. That is ok in your book? I agree people should pay there bets. He and coug don’t get along. Especially coug great knowledge of SDSU women’s basketball. (That is a another whole topic of hot garbage) But he did stay he went you the final four. He spent a lot of money celebrating SDSU. Maybe he didn’t have the money. But to ridicule and harass him to leave then brag and celebrate it. That is perfectly fine? 5 times a day give me a break. I said they should have use the NIL on a WBB coach. He chimed in with his usual spiel. I know how the program works and you don’t know crap. Then I proceeded calling out his usual BS. Which I can’t do now. Here the thing of you going to brag about knowing the coaches and staff and everyone admin from SDSU. You damn sure you better know what you are talking about and have credibility.Am I wrong about that? He didn’t know about Reese Dixon Waters visiting. He straight out lied about Washington wanted to come if Mensah left last year. Then now saying everyone knew this year. Seriously, WTF is that. Now everyone should still believe that he has inside knowledge. Hey Stan, if you want to know about basketball transfers info and is not fake. Aztec breakdown and Aztec hoop nation on Twitter and give them a DM. Is that better for you? So, what I’m saying is worst that those two things above me. Please. Double standards.

Jay Pal 6'9" 190 lbs - played in the Big South Conference in 22-23
12 ppg- 7 rebs- 58 % FG - 33 % Threes - 73 FT % - 1.2 blocks - 31 minutes per game
his frame reminds me of Malcolm Thomas
as mentioned went to Omaha HS - not sure if AG did ?
Did notice Rutgers was interested in him

I guess I missed out on all this “drama”. What bet was placed? And who had to leave the board? Sorry, I was too busy celebrating our amazing season.

as it usually happens most players get numerous offers from a variety of schools - as you pointed out the Orange have shown interest but article says there has been little chatter about Javonte . Decent bigs are in demand and they know it

Funny how he was the one who trashed others & myself, and I simply showed him the thread with HIS bet & responded to his attack on my with reality yet I'm the bad guy? Someone sure loves to point the finger at me where its unwarranted. Back to the topic, Brown would be a solid add, especially if they get the waiver (which is expected). I do like Diallo though.

Brown would be a HUGE get for this year or next years team, they have 2 scholarships left. He could come in and play this year or come in and redshirt learn the system and play against this years team everyday and improve this years team having them practicing against a true 7 footer everyday.

Pal + Brown would be a solid way to wrap up the recruiting cycle, although as we've seen EVERY year we always land 1 guy who's never mentioned as a candidate. Maybe that was RDW in this cycle though? Bandaego would be the ultimate get, and I could see Diallo & Dorius being solid gets as well. All possibly more impactful in year 1 than Brown. I'd take any of the 4, frankly. Or Washington, or even a Muoka.
