We have enough current depth, and enough scholarships to offer, to bring in a sit-1 big. Could be a great get for future depth.

Looks like he had a legit offer from Kansas out of high school just a couple of years ago 4-star recruit who played for both UConn (didn't see the floor, played 5 minutes) & Texas A&M (played 31 games two years ago, 2 games last year, 22 minutes.) Offered by: Connecticut Huskies, Texas A&M Aggies, Arizona Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, Alabama Crimson & the Indiana Hoosiers out of High School. Late Bloomer: maybe. Maybe while he sits he can work on free throws.

Aztec coaches usually do as much of a deep dive as possible into a recruit - both College and HS - would guess they want to see his actions on the court and off
Is Deloach also still coming for a visit or is that NIL story

bodies are important. With the portal, you can never be sure about the makeup of your team one year to the next.

Enormous upside on the court at 7'0" and athletic, some projected him as 5-star player. His back story, he left HS early to go to UCONN, and developed a great relationship with UConn assistant coach Kenya Hunter who left to Indiana, and then covid the NCAA granted seniors an extra year of eligibility. Instead of getting playing time as a sophomore, Brown was once again stuck on the bench, with no clear path he transferred to Texas A&M in 2021, who had a number of Canadian players.
When he got to College Station they wrote this about him in the local paper: "Javonte Brown was probably the best offensive big in Canada last season and is one of the best skilled big, true bigs that we’ve seen in a while," said Canadian basketball scout Wesley Brown who has Brown ranked as a five-star prospect. "He became a star really last year offensively in the OSBA. He always had the size and he was pretty mobile, but he really became an offensive beast last year, scoring through double teams, strong with the ball, skilled, developed his shot, has a pretty good jump shot."
Is SDSU last chance U, for Brown, who arrived from Canada early, the bottom feel out at UConn, grew at Texas A&M, but then was arrested and suspended from the team. Only time will tell. I am still looking for video footage.

SDSU, Syracuse, Oregon State are the bigger P6 schools reaching out to the 7'0" 250 lb Post-player from Canada.

This guy sure doesn’t seem to fit the “culture” we have built. We’ve backed away from much better players because they didn’t fit that culture. I’m just surprised we are going after him.

I thought the same but maybe it was only one incident / mistake ? And maybe the coaches believe his explanation ? I am hopeful our BB Coach Staff would give someone a chance but also stick to our high cultural standards.

I think the coaches have more than earned the benefit of the doubt on their judgement. If they think he's a solid character guy then so do I

If Dutch and Crew want him that's good enough for me.
