Snell with another good game - not quite far enough to qualify for the QS, but almost. All those Ks kill it, but he looked like he might've had another inning or two left in the tank when he left. So that's also encouraging. Still not sold on this BP's consistency, and getting a few more innings out of the starters will be critical if they make it past the end of the regular season. Just getting there, the staff may need to expend more bullets than might be reasonable if they were a bit closer to the leaders.

He was already at 101 pitches through 5 innings, and he hasn't thrown more 109 pitches in a start this season. He just can't give major depth. It shouldn't have been as close as it was for several reasons--one of which is I think the Rangers had a plan with Martinez in the game, which was swing at the first pitch. The rest of the bullpen came through, although Josh made it a bit interesting in the end.

Snell with two quick walks - in the first inning. He wasn't able to get out of the inning unscathed this time. Could've been much worse, though. He's going to need to find the plate soon, or it's going to be a long night, and he'll be out of bullets by the fourth inning.

Just not doing his best job of locating pitches - especially fastballs. Oh well, at least for once he's got the breathing room for a few mistakes - and, well, there it goes!

Another QS for Snell, but he'll probably get rung up with the loss since the Padres appear to have crawled back under their non-hitting rock. That's about the most consistent thing this offense has produced all season - their inconsistency.

It seems like Snell really likes it here but he's leading all of baseball in ERA and all he's got to show for it is a 10-9 record. I'd want to go somewhere I can get some run support.

The crazy thing is that that place should be HERE with all that talent. They did it last year. It didn't happen this year, unfortunately.

You're right, it SHOULD be here, but last year was the same thing. His ERA was 3.38 which was the 16th best ERA in the NL and his record was 8-10. I'd be gone.

Yet another QS for Snell… hard to ignore the strong case he’s building for another Cy Young Award…and the Padres have just wasted his effort this season.

Snell gets serious and this is what we get. 1BB, 8Ks, 1 hit.
Holy Cow.
Someone's making a strong case for another CY Award.

Too bad it won't be the Padres, he has another few years of league leading bullets left.

It will be a shame if he goes somewhere else after it seems like he finally has his groove back. Previous two years he was 15-16 with a 3.79 ERA. He's 14-9 with a MLB leading 2.33 ERA this year but the way he's pitched he should be at least 18-5 or better.
Plus he's great in the clubhouse and even better when he talks to the tv booth during games. I will miss him a lot if he goes. I'd rather trade Soto for a couple good pitchers and pay Snell.

Thought they might leave him in to start the 8th inning.

Thought they might leave him in to start the 8th inning. I was hoping they would have given him a chance to pitch a complete game, no hitter. Bummer. He should have at least had his 15th win tonight, but it's the Padres we're talking about, unfortunately.

I think that we need him to have two more outings like that one on the 25th and the 1st. 10 games left...

Snell hammered again last night as the Rattlers venomize Gigantes 17-1.
85 pitches in 4.1 innings, 9 hits, 1 BB, 5 ER, 3 K's … Ugh. Spring Training Mode numbers - what happens when you skip Spring Ball. 11.57 ERA and almost 2 WHIP.
The rest of the Gigantes BP fell right into line after seeing Snell's example…
Yes, things could always be worse!

The icing on the cake is when they get trampled. Good times.

At least we got enough guys up so the top of the order will have a chance to get their at bats. We just couldn't cash in with those runners on second and third.
