Snell was dealing today at Coors Field, as usual the bullpen failed him and the hitting came up lame, blowing a 3-1.

Doubt this game will be finished until the Padres next trip in to Denver.

Doubt this game will be finished until the Padres next trip in to Denver. And...I was wrong. They finished it today. Padres BP soils the sheets.

Off to a horrendous start – Tampa Bay batters, that is. Snell K's the side in the first inning. His performance was a dominant one. Holy cow.

Snell is starting to take over the Ace role in the rotation…

Snell in June (4 starts): - 3-0 - 25 innings - 1 ER; ERA: 0.36 - 43 K's; 6 BB's; 1 HBP (6:1 ratio) - WHIP: 0.64 - BAA: .119
If you include his last start in May (31st) those only get better. Stretch it to last 7 & he's still sub 2 ERA & sub 1 WHIP.
Insane, CY-caliber stats. If he'd have received any run support early on.. 3 losses when giving up 2 runs & going 5+ innings. Has really only had 3 bad starts.
Hard to top our 4-man rotation, and Lugo hasn't really sucked either (for a 5th starter). Wacha has been insane as well.

Agreed, which makes the current 3 games under .500 unfathomable, unacceptable and outright painful. I know I should be used to it as an SD sports' fan, but ooft...

One pitch - and it wasn't even that bad. No help from the rest of his team.

This may not be a popular take, but Snell has to go deeper into games. He used all of his bullets in 5 innings tonight, and then turned the game over to what has been a reeling bullpen of late.
In 175 career starts, he has only pitched into the 8th inning 5 times, and the only time he pitched in the 9th was in relief with the Rays.

Tonight was the first time in well over a month that he hadn't gone at least six innings. Command was a bit touch and go tonight, but he is who he is.

We need to keep scoring.

Does Hill have a "rubber arm?" He seems to be pitching a lot lately, and not all that great. Maybe there's no choice, but it sure isn't doing him any good.
