I think it's obvious that Malik is not ready for the NBA this year. Frankly, I think staying TWO more years would be in his best interests, since I suspect he will be better next year but perhaps not spectacularly so. On the other hand, in terms of maximizing his professional potential, he probably would gain little if anything by staying four years at S.D.S.U. Well, he could earn a degree, and that is not a minor benefit. Still, staying the full four years would probably not be worth the risk of injury.
By the way, just what does "injury prone" mean? I've always thought that was a dumb concept. Is an "injury prone" athlete somehow, consciously or unconsciously, trying to get hurt? If an "injury prone" athlete has had an injury or two, does that mean that he is more likely to be hurt again as compared to one who has not already been hurt? And does "injury prone" refer to further problems with a part of the body already hurt or does it mean that such a player is more likely than average to hurt a part of the body not previously subject to injury?
Anyway, I hope that Malik stays at least another year. I favor a third year, too, since he still has so much to learn. But an NBA team may be willing to give him a truckload of cash based on how good it thinks he MAY become. What do the pros know? Remember Paul Pettit? The first "Bonus Baby" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Pettit). Given $100,000 dollars right out of high school in 1950 ($969,738.59 in 2015 dollars), he was a bust in MLB. And then there was the brilliant hiring of Ryan Leaf! ! !

Maybe good enough to win conference but not against good teams in the tournament.

Lol at our offense good we are ranked #286 in scoring Our offense only has to be better than our opponent's offense... and since our opponent's offense has to play against our #3 rated scoring defense...

Cannot win with a good defense alone. A great offense beats a great defense most of the time. For the most part the team for this in the tournament are those with a good offense.

Cmon now, #286 out of 350 is horrible especially with our talent level. So what do you call #3 out of 350? Very good, but when it comes to the big tournament we play much better teams and our defense has a hard time slowing down a good offense just like Florida Gulf Coast. Our offense should be much better if Coach only knew how to actually run an offense. I know he is a defense of specialist coach I get that, what is the point of getting all this athletic talent when he micromanages the offense?

If we beat a team 1-0...scoring only one measly point...we win... As written by others...the team with the most points at the end of the game wins EVERY time...whether that's 200-199 or 1-0... What you're essentially saying is that OUR defense can't stop other teams' offense...in which I call BS on that...they can, they have, and they will

Why are we feeding the troll?
50/50 he's an undercover Vegas fan, and if you look at his posts he's been talking trash about players and especially Fisher since 2012-13. Ignore and he'll go away.

So far home court or neutral court Aztecs have been awesome and have shown they can beat Utah and play with Arizona. Their offense has only gotten better since those games.
They have been much better on the road lately.
I have seen no indication that with our defense the offense is not good enough to competitive against teams like Arizona, Utah, etc.
I think we are peaking at the right time. Last year I felt we peaked a little early (mostly meaning X played like a human instead of a god at the end of the season).
I think we can win out rest of conference games including MWC tournament and be very dangerous in MM.

$#!+ on defense today, ball up on O. Gut check, he needs to push himself against BSU in the second half!

Feeding the trolls? You guys are nuts. Coach played him nine minutes last night that is not enough for a player who is going to be a top 15 pick in the NBA. We need offense bad and Coach Fisher will not play him. I can care less about his defense. Does the coach worry about Kevin Durant's defense? No!If I was pope I would want to leave this team right away either go to the NBA or transfer. This is a joke man the way he does not play and when he plays there are no plays designedfor him. We are completely wasting him and his talents this year and he will be gone at the end of the season. Still not sure why Fisher wants to get all this talent, when he micromanages the offense and he does not let the guys talent show. He should be getting plays design for him the entire game!

[/quote Yeah that was some great offense last night guys! 46 points is atrocious! High school coaches run better offenses than coach Fisher! At the end of the day, we need an offense not just a great defense.

A good offense is not anymore important than a good defense. I completely disagree. Almost always a great offense will be a great defense. Games like last night we lose because we cannot score enough. our team will never go anywhere unlesscoach starts working on improving his horrible offense. He can start by playing pope a lot more. He should be getting tons of minutes each game!

You clearly didn't watch the game. They in fact did design a play for him in the first half, isolating him against Boise's worst defender in the post area, which he converted. Otherwise, Pope played tentative and didn't attack the basket. He was also very poor fundamentally on defense, particularly on switches; a couple times, he was able to recover and/or help with 2 blocks. On the other hand, Kell did attack; unfortunately, his basketball IQ last night did not match his aggressiveness.
