Shep was on the wing, I think the game was about 10:00 to go in the 2nd, and something had happened. Shep was sulking, the team was playing. Finally he moved to got involved and moved to catch a pass, then he turned it over. There was a full time out and Shep was removed. TB spent just about the entire TO getting in hie face. When the game resumed, they were sitting on either side of LBF. Shep leaned over and barked something to TB, then it was on again. Besides all the rest, Shep had pulled his black shirt on then reversed it so the Aztec logo was on the inside. At the next TO, Soria came over and talked to him, and when he left, Shep barked at him. Finally, LBF kinda took him aside and had emphatic words for him. Finally, Shep took the shirt off, and turned it around and sat back down.
I don't know what started it, I don't know what any of the discussions were about, but I don't think Shep had as good a time at the game as I did.
BTW, we are in row 6 just about behind the bench so we have a good view.

I was wondering what happened and why Winston didnt play as much in the second half. That 3 or 4 minute segment in the first half, he looked really good.
Im super happy though that he's getting lit up like that by his coaches and teammates. The kid needs to learn, you dont F with the coaches, especially Bland. I feel like that is the last guy you want on your bad side because of how much respect he garners from everyone. If he's on your bad side, you just come off like a tool. If Bland is pissed at you, you done something wrong.

Didn't see it, but if coach Bland is telling you what's up you probably deserve it

He looked a little put out that Jamaal didn't feed him on a 3-on-1 break at the 11:20 mark. Then, the big thing is that he didn't hustle back on defense the next play, where UNM almost got a transition bucket. It sounded like the coaches were yelling at him to hustle back and then he got pulled. Gotta put forth max effort or someone else sitting next to you will.

He knows the kind of effort the team has given to get where they are now. I was hoping he could share some of that with Shep, because it doesn't seem as though Shep understands. If he doesn't get back in the game, I wouldn't expect to see him next season. BTW, if LBF played against Wyoming I'd bet there would have been a different outcome. He isn't a horrible point, he can shoot, he has played and won in Laramie, and he can play D.

It's guys like LBF, and I hate myself for putting them in the same sentence but J-Tubs and Narbeh and Aaron Douglas, that make this team great. Not everyone can be a star. And in LBF's case, he came out of high school thinking he could be a star and most on aztectalk thought so too. I still hope he gets his chance, and even if he doesn't, the fact that he is still on the bench cheering for our guys means he's an Aztec for life. Love and respect for the kid either way.

What we're seeing is a guy that is used to being THE MAN, not be the man.
The guy seems super competitive, wants to play well, and wants to play hard. It's just a matter of Winston conforming to a team atmosphere that doesn't peg the entirety of his emotions on his own personal play.
He's in a really delicate spot right now IMO and I hope things work out well for Winston. If things work out well for Winston, they will work out for the Aztecs.
I think he's in good hands. Put it this way, if he were at New Mexico, he'd be ankle deep in Alford's dog house and on the verge of transferring.

Shep's attitude seems to correlate directly to how much PT he's getting. I'm not sure I have too much of a problem with that.

he has seemed to turn the corner with his attitude a few games ago, but it was back in full force today.
he's 18. he'll work through it.

it's just rough to watch at times... he's about as opposite of a "team guy" as i've seen. cheers for no one, and seem throughly uninterested in the game or outcome if he's not on the court.
it's probably just his personality, but it's quite the contrast to guys like chase, jamaal, deshawn and others. hopefully he finds the right balance and can get himself going in the right direction.

Live and learn, freshman mistakes.
For reference, see Jamaal.
