With the discussions right around the corner, the early and "discreet" word is that NBC has already given the Big East their top bid.
16 million, full members 11 million, fb only
Thoughts??
*Keep in in mind that this is only a rumor for now. Either way, not a bad start. If it's accurate, I'm curious to see what moves ESPN makes (or doesn't).

What were we getting from the MWC (when The Mtn. existed)?

If these numbers hold up, it would be great for us.
I think the pervious number was 4 mil/year?
Not sure.

The MWC contract pays $1.5 million for all sports. 12M for the entire conference - so in most years we got 1.2M. Still too early to see where this is going to fall - but 11M would be great - it would be enough to not only survive, but actually compete with top 30ish (assuming our current school funding doesnt get cut)

To help boost national perception in terms of dollars and "stability", I feel the BE has to at least be on par with the ACC's 17 million for full members, which would put FB only members at 12 million.
Aresco and co. will get it done.

And it was reported that they will again look at the compensation next year, read: it's going down once Boise and SDSU and their 27 times on national tv are gone

Wow that would be great.... I think most people on this board were going to be happy with 6 million that we heard when SDSU decided to go east.
1.2 million a year for all sports thanks Mtn. network!

Big East needs to get to the 13 or 14 mil that the ACC is at for the next half dozen years and then get above that 17 in the backloaded section.

The MWC contract pays $1.5 million for all sports. 12M for the entire conference - so in most years we got 1.2M.That's correct. And if somebody on the MWC board is correct, the MWC could be stuck with that figure until 2018 because of some clause in its contract with CBS - short for Can't Bail Soon. I'm not buying the 16 mil rumor for the BE or $11M for Boise and SDSU. That just seems like a way to dissuade the BE from re-upping with ESPN during the September-October exclusive negotiations window. SDSU's consultant estimated somewhere around $6.4M per year for us and although it could end up being a little higher, I don't see us getting more than $8M annually. Whatever the figure turns out to be, we win. We needed to get out of what is becoming a horrible football conference and BE membership is going to allow us to do that. So however much we get in TV revenue is icing on the cake.

The numbers have gone up, as has the basement. 8 mil is the least we'll get now, 11 is now the sweet spot

if anyone noticed the MLB Deal..the same environment that is demanding live sports content drove record money for MLB.
Experts are all saying the same things, there are limited places to find content so demand is driving record $ for sports leagues.
We should do very well.
