The ACC is locked into their ESPN contract for many years to come, so they're screwed. They're in the same boat as the MWC is with their TV contract. bull$#!+. (No offense.) If anyone wants out of any contract, he can always ask. If that doesn't work, he can create the conditions that bring about his release. In this case, that would mean just not putting the teams on the field. It used to happen a lot in baseball and football with players. The ACC calling off its season because of protesting their contract is as unlikely as an independent candidate winning our presidential election. LOL

No $#!+. What planet do you live on John? (no offense) It's a valid question, so no offense taken. Lemme ask you guys this: Who carries the ACC basketball contract? If it's ESPN, and if they want NC and Duke basketball on their network, they'll do whatever it takes to make sure that, say, Florida State is making more on football than Temple is. They want them, they don't NEED them. They're locked into a contract. The ACC has no leverage.

ESPN would try very hard but that has nothing to do with the ridiculous notion that the ACC would put it's football "on strike" to get more TV money. That would never happen in a trillion years, ever.

ESPN certainly couldn't use the legal system to force the ACC into specific performance of the contract. Nor is it likely ESPN could obtain a permanent injunction to prohibit the ACC from contracting with another network. However, ESPN could sue for breach and, IIRC, gain so-called expectation damages which would be immense.
Considering all it has going for it, when it comes to football, the ACC has probably been as mismanaged as the MWC. Which is why I continue to think there's a good chance the B12 will steal away FSU and Clemson.
Which leads to this. I admit I was absolutely wrong about Chuck Neinas. That guy may engage in highly questionable conflicts of interest but the dude knows college sports and he and the lesser lights within the B12 like Iowa State and K-State pretty much saved that conference. Props to them all.

I think the $11m is the starting point..I have a hard believing this will be the final number...I think it will be higher when all is said and done...let the bidding begin! The concept of games being broadcast all day (4 timezones) is a huge competitive advantage, one which warrants a potential bigger payday....

That would never happen in a trillion years, ever. Well granted that was an extreme example of what could happen (even if in a trillion years). Bottom line is this: I guarantee you that Florida State will not be making the same (or even close) dollars off football as Temple. Did you ever think TCU would be making more than Florida State and Miami? You're out in left field on this one John.

Which is why I continue to think there's a good chance the B12 will steal away FSU and Clemson. I still think the ACC will eventually lose all of its name teams to either the B12 or B10. Yep. Because they're AAU members located near major cities, Maryland and Syracuse will probably both end up in the B1G. Rutgers rather than Cuse would be a possibility but their football is no better and their basketball isn't even in the same universe. Rutgers and UConn figure to replace Maryland and Syracuse and it's probable losses like that plus the likelihood that Notre Dame will move its Olympic sports elsewhere that mean the BE will either have to develop a full-fledged West division or simply break apart into two conferences. Since the MWC will be all but defunct as a viable football conference by then, there will be plenty of western schools begging for admission regardless.

In this case, that would mean just not putting the teams on the field. the sun will rise in the west first.

Did you ever think TCU would be making more than Florida State and Miami? Amazing, isn't it? Just goes to show you the value of a top-flight football program to a university. Also goes to show you how far UNLV has its head stuck up its rectum.

You can see banners like this everywhere in PB for different teams it really upsets me. PB Bar and Grill is a University of Washington Hub. The Boardwalk on Mission has a huge Kansas JayHawk gathering. The dumpsters behind my place is a MECCA of UNLV graduates to forage for food and sharp objects. There aren't enough SDSU hubs in the beach areas. I know PB is a wormhole for All Thing Transplant, but for some reason I find the idea of B&G as a Dub Hub to be somewhat upsetting.

The Chuck Long hire and the Jeff Schemmel hire which preceded came within an eyelash of potentially costing SDSU tens of millions of dollars in lost income. Maybe hundreds of millions depending on how the university manages its athletics department over the next decade or so. And no, I'm NOT overstating it.

Its not, from what I can remember. Its a Michigan Bar. Ohio State at Moondoggies. As far as a place tro watch SDSU in PB, there have been some good crowds at Woodstocks

People need to realize how fortunate we are to be getting the nod to the BE. It keeps us in the game. Now we need to take advantage of it (read: WIN/fan support) so when the next time the musical chairs game begins, we're still a viable player in the game.
