I know PB is a wormhole for All Thing Transplant, but for some reason I find the idea of B&G as a Dub Hub to be somewhat upsetting. Its not, from what I can remember. Its a Michigan Bar. Ohio State at Moondoggies. As far as a place tro watch SDSU in PB, there have been some good crowds at Woodstocks Alehouse is Iowa Hawkeyes, Beachwood is Wisconsin. The list goes on and on.

Hokies Bar. Beachwood is also Packers hangout. I think Aaron Rodgers has a stake in it.

He does. One of my good friends was the former general manager of Beachwood and hung out with him a few times.

Boy we need to get a Big East Western Division for MBB and grab that extra 5 million per year! That would be nice.

With the discussions right around the corner, the early and "discreet" word is that NBC has already given the Big East their top bid. 16 million, full members 11 million, fb only Thoughts?? *Keep in in mind that this is only a rumor for now. Either way, not a bad start. If it's accurate, I'm curious to see what moves ESPN makes (or doesn't). Well there you go. A nice paycheck for a bold move. Kudos for all involved. I'm not sure ESPN would be....to pay that kind of money but one never knows. If it in fact materializes I truly hope it's worth it.

I think most people would prefer the deal to be signed with NBC anyways. That or multiple partners. I sure would. ..Sent from my Samsung GS3..

Unless NBC's offer is in writing it is simply a negotiating ploy to influence ESPN's offer. And ESPN would be wise to force the BEast to make a decision before Nov. 1 or when the exclusive negotiating period is up. If I'm ESPN, I offer $12.0M per year for footballl members and let Aresco decide if NBC is bluffing. My guess is Aresco takes the ESPN offer and NBC never gets to the bargaining table.

"If" ESPN blinks to Aresco's playing the NBC card at this stage, all it means is that the $'s are greater than anyone could have fathomed. Should ESPN not buy in, then it will be up to Aresco to get the max value as NBC really would not have anyone to compete with.
The trump card(s) has to be the BE hoops tourney and/or the Golden Domers. At the very least, Amresco has the credentials to be the lead negotiator and has put his vaunted reputation on the line.
Fortunately, it will not be too long before the cards are on the table and whose bet has paid off and by how much.

The exclusive negotiating window with ESPN opened on September 1st correct? It's been curiously quiet on that front. Most of us here have been distracted by the the football controversy. I guess its a good sign that neither party is negotiating in the press at this point?

^^^ how do you know that they haven't been negotiating??? On the contrary, I'm assuming they have been. However, since there hasn't been anything written about it, they haven't gone public with the negotiations which is actually a good sign. Generally indicates both sides are respecting the process and the confidentiality of the talks. As a fan, would be nice for some rumors to leak out though.

I think everyone assumes it is fait accompli that the big east is at least going to the open market if not going to NbC. I doubt there is substantial negotiating going on. Big East also doesn't want to get caught in the mess that CUSA did where they got sued by ESPN and fox had to just settle with the big east by giving them the title game free of charge.

I think ESPiN is going to take full advantage of that 60 day exclusive window in hopes that a competitor will prematurely leak bidding information so that they can sue them. I can see those SOBs submitting their bid on the 59th day for that reason. The bidding going on the open market. Bank on it.

Boy we need to get a Big East Western Division for MBB and grab that extra 5 million per year! This...though I am sure it would not be that much if they spread the money across more members. I wish there was a way to get 2-4 western powerhouse basketball teams, but I would assume it is a complete package of football + basketball + Oly. Unfortunately, the best basketball teams in the west have crappy football teams.

Unfortunately, the best basketball teams in the west have crappy football teams. The trouble is the eastern members feel none of the new western members are worth a damn in BB, even if we go deeper than we ever have in the NCAA. Hell, they don't hold any team in high esteem that's located west of the Mississippi. They more than anyone represent that east coast bias for basketball, so there's no way they'll share that portion of the revenue. They're dumb enough to leave the nBE before that happens. We can only hope Aresco has an idea on how to resolve it.

The Big 12 signs a 13 year deal worth 2.6 million with ABC/ESPN and Fox.
Yeah, that's a cool 20 million per school.
ESPN/ABC and Fox will handle football and ESPN/ABC will carry hoops games.
Found this part interesting:
The new deal includes grant of rights, meaning if a Big 12 school leaves for another league in the next 13 years, that school's media rights, including revenue, would remain with the Big 12 and not their new conference.
