Plus the issue (and the debate from both sides surrounding it) are important. I guess that's the case if you have nothing else important in your life. Most can put something like the importance of a mascot in perspective. The people that obsessively post on this thread obviously cannot. On one level you are right. When you think about it, however, you wonder what kind of lack of originality would spring a character that is not even close to original when we have had one of the more unique figures in Monty. Someone in the SDSU family has their head where the sun don't shine if they think Zuma is a good idea on any level.

Does this comment apply to all of the kids who like Zuma? Because someone has a different opinion and maybe even embraces the change, that means they have their head up their a**? You can't be serious. This has to be the most ludicrous debate that I've witnessed in 32 years as an Aztec fan, and there have been plenty. I'm checking out of any discussion that has to do with Zuma, Monty, the Aztec Warrior for good and will never connect the mascot with my support for SDSU sports.

Oh, good grief, Charlie Brown... ENOUGH. No more personal arguments here. No personal insults. If you've got an issue with someone take it to PM - that goes for everyone. I'm getting tired of all this high school bullcrap. You're all better than that - so show it. Campanile, Steve - you're not the only ones that this applies to, but on this thread you guys have gone way over the top in taking a minor argument into a 14 page thread. Unless you've got something new to post on the topic - DON'T. Thank you, and GO AZTECS!!! Erik... I am on topic.....An Aztec topic. I am not using personal attacks. On the other hand, Campanile does not care about the topic (he has stated that)...His purpose for being here is to agitate and aggravate and take personal shots. I will not be silenced on an Aztec topic. It is an appropriate topic for this board and I have not used personal attacks.

I will and won't be silenced.

So the millions of dollars of donations lost to San Diego State during the loss of Monty doesn't bother you? What does bother you as an Aztec fan?

My point is simply that it is not a very original or well thought out idea to hatch something like Zuma when many schools across the nation have the same mascot including our hated BYU. We have a unique mascot. Why screw it up? They could come up with something that kids like that does not seem like a copy of what BYU does along with a multitude of other schools. The people with their head misplaced are not the kids or even their parents, but the admins who came up with this idea. It might not be the "Trojan horse" we hear about, it is for sure a bad idea.

Is there a record and what is it. You do realize that the popularity of this thread is due to it's comedic value, right? I mean, here's nothing like reading the same 5 posters getting themselves all worked up by repeating the same thing over and over and over again. It's a train wreck of monumental proportions. Please, carry on. We all need a good chuckle. "It could be made into a monster if we all stick together as a team." "Oh by the way, which one's Pink?"

It will be interesting tonight to see if they have gotten a clue about The BYWho Cougar. Wonder if he will be where he should be outside or inside in the upper ring greeting all these kids he's supposed to be there for? Or on the floor and dancing with the cheerleaders/dance team. Or on the scoreboard and in the advertising. I bet they will disappoint us again on this subject.

I'm going to make an executive decision here and declare this thread closed. Come, on folks, FIFTEEN pages of posts? Right off hand I cannot think of any thread as long.
Let's give this topic a rest, at least for a while, Pretty please?
Any new thread on this topic that that does not contain NEWS as opposed to rehash will be terminated. Go ahead, flame away if you disagree. On the other hand, if you think this is a good decision, tell me that, too.
