Well, then we probably would not be in the Pac, or even the MTN? We could take Gonzaga's place? Be the biggest fish in the WCC, Big West, WAC or some basketball conference??? Football drives the athletics of a school. What more money could we consolidate? Can't increase seating, would we build a bigger area somewhere? Let us know how eliminating FB would increase NIL money? …but wait…Gonzaga is in the new PAC without a football team…so they can do it but not SDSU? Too funny. You missed the point completely. But, the Pac needs 8 football schools. We wouldn't of been invited without football. No sure they would allow another non football school? They would then need 2 more football schools. FB is what brings $$$, and more schools equals less payout. We already fund minimum sports as it is. Seems like we had to add 1 or 2 to join the Pac? Once again, where is the money coming from??? |

The article also focused on wins and losses, which most of us aren't worried about so much in this transition year. The bigger concerns are the manner in which this team is being coached, like not utilizing the deepest position group on the team (RB) and the lack of discipline.

In the past I've had issues giving away free tix. People in San Diego like going to events and have their ego massage. As much as people dislike LA people we are pretty much a carbon copy. Just look at USC and UCLA attendance this year. What needs to happen is the Skyshow needs to return to make it an event. We need to schedule NAVY and one of the LA football teams on a yearly basis. We need Saturday games for both Football and Basketball. We need wicker and all of his staff on a Thursday walk around campus and promote their product. Our true fan base is a bunch of blue hair people which includes me. College football is all about the youth movement and probably need to have a HS night were any student in the county gets a $10 tiix with ID. |

It's both The cost makes taking the family to see a game run several hundred bucks for you, your wife and two kids. |

If important players transfer out each season every year will be a "learning" year. That doesn't seem likely to work. Time will tell. |

Playing Navy is a really good idea. A recent article in the Union had lots of good suggestions about boosting attendance. We really should try some things. I remember when interest was such at Aztec Bowl when people were hanging off of fences and watching with binoculars while others were sitting in the dirt in the enclosed end of the stadium. Now it's always too hot or too cold or too boring of an opponent or bad grass or no canopies, etc. We gotta figure out something soon. Ugh. |

NIL and the portal will have the same negative effects on the basketball program that it will have on the football program. I would think so. If things don't change rapidly the best days of Aztec basketball are gone. I hate how the days of having roster consistency from year to year is going away. It bodes terribly for the basketball program as others have said, you only need to look at guys being snatched up by Arizona, Kentucky, Virginia, Ohio State in the last few years. As I have said before, the NCAA had decades to get it right but were too blinded by greed to figure anything out. Now the horse is out of the barn and not coming back and in my opinion college sports is way worse off for it. |
