I just hope that next year we all never want to see this thread because we were wrong to judge Lewis this early. Im not saying that will happen but I hope that is what happens. Hope in one hand, and **** in the other... 💩💩💩 They created this just for you!

do not think that losing a couple of HS recruits is going to help the situation
as Lewis has said he really dislikes the current situations with NIL and Transfer Portal - but since they are not going away he is going to have to do more then his catch phrase of Aztec Fast for SDSU to improve

Stability has been taken away, no matter what level of play. Sadly, everything in this society is driven by money.

For all his inexperience last season, Ryan Lindley was a much better OC.
For the reason Lindley designed an offense around the limited strengths of the players. Hence that t-formation he used to much more success than anything this year.
Having a QB who can't pass anything other than short passes limited his play-calling but at least his scheme attempted to use Mayden's best assets, his size and running ability while minimizing deep throws.
Lewis has the wrong parts for his system. So he either needs to adjut his system or freaking change his personnel. But the same brain telling him to play Daddy Ball with Cooper is also telling him to operate an RPO offense with a pocket passer where we get to watch DEs crash on Cooper behind the LOS almost every time because O'Neil most likely won't pull the ball

He doesn't know anything else because he's stuck in his bubble - he's a college triple option coach in the late 80's. Just completely lucky he ran into Babers and then parlayed that. He knows the veer and shoot. He doesn't know any thing else. Had we hired him a decade ago we'd likely have flourished. Now, not so much. HC's have to understand scheme on both sides and how to adjust your scheme based on personnel. Lewis is the proverbial man with a hammer and SDSU football is his nail...

If these dire predictions are true regarding NIL and the portal then it makes no sense for most of the schools in the current MWC to continue on with football. The only team that might have a reasonable chance for good results might well be Boise. I don't know what the future holds but it seems like a majority of schools in the MAC, MWC, etc., should all just drop football. NIL and the portal will have the same negative effects on the basketball program that it will have on the football program. Basketball roster is way smaller and therefore nil dollars go further. The nil savings from football could increase nil available for basketball. Due to title 9, loss of football would open up to multiple other men’s teams; teams that are not heavily impacted by nil. Football can bring down the other sports.

Being trapped inside this bubble is also a huge reason why this is not a second half team. Other coaches can adjust during the game and it shows in the second half. Lewis cannot.
