When was the last time you saw team unsuccessfully running the ball with 3.5 yards per carry, continue to try to run the ball late in the game when you’re losing? Cooper had 35 carries but only 3.5 per carry. I really don’t even know what to say about that. What I’m really curious about is what in the world Lewis is going to say about that…. “I never even considered not giving him the ball. “ Of course- because he is on the verge of breaking off a long run at anytime.

Here are the facts folks. We scored a whopping 16 points against a team that is ranked 130TH NATIONALLY in total defense. We lost to a 3-6 team at home, but the homers on this board will try to convince us tomorrow why it was unrealistic for us to expect to beat them. Tuff was right last week when he said our administration is not serious about our football program. Even if the homers on this board can't admit it, we hired the WRONG HEAD COACH. Sooner or later, Wicker has to be held accountable for his crappy coaching hires. We have a lousy football program and a last place baseball program. Our diamond of our athletic program is our Men's basketball program. When Dutcher retires, instead of going out and busting his butt to find the best head coach available, our lazy AD has already said we have a "head coach in waiting" who has NO HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE. This is NOT what you do at a perirenal Top 25 program, but Wicker doesn't want to put in the work to get us the best head coach available to run our program when Dutcher retires. (Trust me, ALOT of excellent head coaches would love to run our basketball program). Katie bar the door when Dutcher decides to retire. I don't know how much Wicker had to do with the building of Snapdragon stadium, but his crappy coaching hires alone justify his firing. San Diego State fans and alums deserve better. www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22/p3

He's way worse than Tom Craft. Craft at least had some wide open offense. His offense looked far better than this crap.
There is nothing - ZERO - I see than gives me optimism. Everything is horrible.
No good-great players are going come play here for this 🤡. He's going to lose a bunch of guys in the portal - why would good players stay?
He'll have a built in excuse that they lost so many guys, they'll have to start over. Every year he's here it'll be the sane thing. Tomorrow never comes. Groundhog Day.
If this were Boise, he'd be canned as would the AD. After 1 season. But not us. THAT tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about Aztec football.

Well, I got sick today, so I didn't go to the game. I sure dodged a bullet there. This was a game we could have won, and if prepared properly and in-game coached properly we would have won. But we didn't. OK, NOW I'm starting to get concerned about Coach Lewis. You can't lose a game to New Mexico like this. Clearly, New Mexico was better coached all around. Even so, we still should have won this game. Obviously, we can't afford to fire him this year, but if we go 4-8 next year? He's got to go. We can't allow the program to stagnate when it's in a position just below mediocrity. (That is not a place you want to stay.) I liked Coach Lewis when they hired him, and I still like him. He's the opposite of Brady Hoke - a great talker, lots of energy, and a real personable kind of guy. But, clearly, there is something wrong with how this team is being prepared during the week. And in game he makes some great decisions, and then he makes some bad decisions. But this game... Man, this was bad. We can't afford to lose winnable games like this. Welcome to the "party". The "I now realize and admit Lewis SUCKS" party. Ive had doubts since week 2. But wanted to see it play out. He's terrible, he's not going to be successful- which I minimally put at 9-10 wins a season most seasons. What were there, 7,000 fans there tonight. The field looked worse than the beach at Normandy. You have to be doing so many things wrong to be this bad. He's gotta go.

What is the over under on whether or not Lewis will act like he actually cared that they lost?

This program will be unable to fire Coach Lewis ($$$) BUT they sure could use a new OC. This team looks like a team that is poorly coached across the board and needs true leadership. This is where a Head Coach removed from the day to day responsibilities of being a OC could oversee his staff and hold coaches accountable to better coaching of their own players. This is not looking to change any time soon with how this program is set up and how things are playing out this season. There is going to a big turn over again going into next season and this program will be in the same position at this time next year if there are not some changes in the coaching staff.

Against New Mexico. Impressive, in a dark comedy kind of way.

Why is nobody talking about the defense?
They can't hold a 4th quarter lead long enough for me to take a simple potty break!

Unless some wealthy donor is willing to foot the bill to pay off the buyout for Coach Lewis that's going to have to be at the Coordinator/Position Coach level.

The offense was bad. Very bad.
The offensive line is not capable of blocking in space. Screens? Nope can’t figure out who to block. Zone stretch, nope we run past people and avoid blocking.
I have been vocal about. It liking modern offenses. One of the main reasons is the “‘mesh point”. The whole concept is to allow the back and QB read the defense and then make the right call. The whole is the one that QB and RB determine. Two problems for State, O’Neil never pulls and runs when the ends are crashing in on the mesh point and deprives the RB a downhill run.
Count me out. Go back to the QB under center. Granted, the game has most likely passed me by, but I don’t see how any back or oline finds this offense fun let alone effective to play in.
Defensively tonight, the DE gave up teo TD’s tonight because they don’t set the edge. NM qb is a good runner, his accuracy and arm strength is very suspect, so they run RPO and QB power a ton. You aren’t going to sack this QB very often. So pinning your ears back and trying to inside twist to the QB cost the Aztecs 14 points.
Special Teams are jeckyl and Hyde. Tonight the problem area was kick offs. 1 out of bounds and another big return after taking the lead. Just kick it out the back of the end zone. Punt returns? Shaw has to let a line drive punt go and not filed it inside the 5. Take your chance it goes to the end zone.
When you see so many disjoined things week after week, it’s coaching. I think Lewis has a vision and a system, and he wants that system implemented regardless if the talent he has can execute his system.
Take the world for what it is not what you want it to be.

True, but in college football when you give up 21 points at home, you should win 95% of the time Exactly. The defense isn't great, but it's not horrible, either. Part of the problem is they seem to collapse when they need to deliver the most. I would not be opposed to a new DC and a couple new position coaches on that side of the ball. At the very least we need a couple new position coaches to get the most out of our players.

Lewis is not being fired this season, but he is going to be on a hot seat next year if we keep seeing this none sense.
And for everyone that wanted “exciting offense”, there is no replacement for winning.

I will say that the Statue of Liberty variant play was pretty dope. Unfortunate that we let Chuck Knoblauch line up at receiver for that play, though.
