Lewis is not being fired this season, but he is going to be on a hot seat next year if we keep seeing this none sense. And for everyone that wanted “exciting offense”, there is no replacement for winning. It's not even just the record but how this team looks is the bigger issue. This team just looks poorly coached week after week, while other teams in the same position (new staffs) just look soo much better even with large numbers of turn over in players.

Lewis received a 5 year contract.
If Lewis is fired without cause before then, he will be paid a percentage of his remaining contract — 75 percent if he is fired before Jan, 31, 2026; 85 percent if he’s fired between Feb. 1, 2026 and Jan. 31, 2027; and 100 percent if he’s fired on or after Feb. 1, 2027.
So if we fired him after Season 1 75% x $8M = $6M Season 2 75% x 6M = $4.5M Season 3 85% x 4M = $3.4M Season 4 100% x $2M = $2.0M
If Lewis stinks it up, then they will need to go to the boosters and raise $4.5M to fire him. It’s crazy, but it ihaa gone from crazy talk to better gauge how the boosters feel about keeping Keeis.

I'm thinking they give him 3 years. Not that he would deserve it if he doesn't turn it around next year, but I agree with a lot of people on here that say we don't put enough emphasis football in the way Boise does.
For starters he better get a better O'line next year, and change his coaching philosophy.

Cue up the "We have to better prepare these kids to win." "They never gave up and fought all the way to the end." "We came close and were only a play or two away from a W." Actual press conference: “The kids battled all the way through,” SDSU coach Sean Lewis said. “I’ve just got to put them in a better position to be successful from start to finish with everything.” Nailed it.

Here are the facts folks. We scored a whopping 16 points against a team that is ranked 130TH NATIONALLY in total defense. We lost to a 3-6 team at home, but the homers on this board will try to convince us tomorrow why it was unrealistic for us to expect to beat them. Tuff was right last week when he said our administration is not serious about our football program. Even if the homers on this board can't admit it, we hired the WRONG HEAD COACH. Sooner or later, Wicker has to be held accountable for his crappy coaching hires. We have a lousy football program and a last place baseball program. Our diamond of our athletic program is our Men's basketball program. When Dutcher retires, instead of going out and busting his butt to find the best head coach available, our lazy AD has already said we have a "head coach in waiting" who has NO HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE. This is NOT what you do at a perirenal Top 25 program, but Wicker doesn't want to put in the work to get us the best head coach available to run our program when Dutcher retires. (Trust me, ALOT of excellent head coaches would love to run our basketball program). Katie bar the door when Dutcher decides to retire. I don't know how much Wicker had to do with the building of Snapdragon stadium, but his crappy coaching hires alone justify his firing. San Diego State fans and alums deserve better. www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22/p3Bingo. Post of the year.

Sure Lewis has to go, but Wicker before him. I don't want to see Wicker hire another coach for any sport.

Lucky Sutton getting 0 carries is poor coaching. Don't be surprised when Sutton enters the transfer portal after this season. It will take a miracle for SDSU to be within 30 points of UNLV next week.

We lost to New Mexico missing their top two CBs 🤣😂 This is a terrible football team who is getting worse as the season progresses
How many carries did it take for Cooper-Lewis to hit 100 yards...60? On a rush D allowing 237 per game prior.
I'm sure this is all because Sean Lewis is new and just needs more time, right? 😂
All those guys who left the program after one meeting with Lewis were spot on! They saw something the biggest homers here still deny. He's a fast-talking salesman and not a very good football coach

What really sucks is he has almost no college film meaning his transfer might be to someone we face every year

But, no guarantee to finish it. Meaning, if the team is hot garbage at the mid-way point then both Wicker and Lewis need to go.

Ive seen enough of this daddy ball cr@p were Cooper and Oneil cant compete at the mountain west level this year. Running a 5'7 180 rb up the middle is pretty stu@id. But then again the guy has no wheels to bounce it to the outside. Once again our guys looked slow and undersized. Who ever Lewis brought in as his strength and conditioning coach needs to be fired. This is not the MAC. The next hire needs to have real head coach experiance with knowledge of the game and is hungry to rebuild a program.

We just plain didn't look well coached last night - especially on offense which is supposed to be Lewis's forte. Home loss to New Mexico in front of a nearly empty stadium? Oh man, not good. I just hope we don't start losing committed recruits.

Erik, this team isn't stagnant, it's being flushed into the San Diego sewage outfall weekly. Ugh, just ugh!

Stagnation would be a massive upgrade to the sewage dumping happening now
If it gets any worse the EPA might have to get involved

Why is nobody talking about the defense? They can't hold a 4th quarter lead long enough for me to take a simple potty break! Not taking about the defense because they held the Lobos 14 points under season average. Aztec offense scored 3 points in the 2nd half!!

Not taking about the defense because they held the Lobos 14 points under season average. Aztec offense scored 3 points in the 2nd half!! They only gave up 7 points when mentally checked in. They actually were the reason the Aztecs were in the game Only scoring 16 on a terrible D missing its top two CBs is just another data point saying Lewis ain't the guy
