Bummer. He's a key component of this team.
HOWEVER, if he can get healthy and stay healthy for late December through the end of the season, well, that's when it really counts, so we could still be OK.

This one really hurts. I was hoping he would have an all Aztec type season. Next guy up, really need Boyd and McKinney to be healthy and get full reps in as we get towards the season.

We went from deep at Guard to scarily thin. Losing 6'6"Waters and 6'3"Boyd is going to really hurt defensively. DAMN!!!!!

We also have to hope that Boyd's injury isn't a recurring one.

Man, this is a tough one. I hate that he’s going to miss the Vegas tournament and the Gonzaga game.
On the other hand, the other players are going to get that much more opportunity to shine until Reese returns.

No doubt bad news for Waters and Boyd has been injured
Time for BJ( had a good scrimmage against UCLA ) and Taj to show what they can do for the team

Unfortunately, because of our craptastic conference, the OOC is extremely important. It’s why we got the seed we did last year. Gonzaga, cal and players era tourney will be huge. Next man up

BJ Davis has an opportunity to force himself into the rotation for the rest of the season if he can stay hot the next couple months until Reese Waters is healthy...

If Davis gets and stays hot, Reese may actually end up taking a back-up role. His feet/ankles have been bad since about late Dec of last year. Before that I was surprised when he missed a shot. After that, I was surprised when he made one. I'm hoping for a Wally Pipp moment.

Gotta think Byrd is going to get more time as well,as he normally plays the 2 which is what Waters plays. Might open up for Taj too. We also have Kimo Ferrari. Last year we really needed Waters to score because we really didn't have many scorers in the lineup and teams went after LeDee. I really think this team is going to be more balanced, and better, offensively. Sounds like both Goon and JCJ can put the ball in the basket, and Goon from out at the 3. Feel bad for Waters, though. I know he was looking forward to this season.

San Diego is such a pathetic sports town. I was listening to 93.7FM, "The Fan" today for their 12:00 Sports Fix. The self-proclaimed "San Diego's #1 Sports Station" gave a run down of "everything" that happened in the world of sports. They started with baseball of course (Padres station) then covered NFL news before going to NBA and finally NHL stuff. Kept waiting for something about Reese Waters injury but they never said anything.
Not sure if they don't want to cover anything Aztec-related because SDSU is on 760 AM but that's really pathetic that they have nothing to say about the city's 2nd most popular team sport and a serious injury to one of their top players. PATHETIC!!!!!

BJ showed he can play in the scrimmage. Taj will get opportunity if he can play good defense. McKinney likely can go, probably a nagging hamstring injury that will limit his minutes. Ferrari can give us minutes off the bench as needed, he's a legit D1 player even if we don't have him on scholarship. I think we're fine.
