Safeway/Albertsons had unleaded gas for $3.89 today. It's not top tier fuel but it's cheaper than the National brands.

Gassed up my truck today at Costco: $3.76 per gallon. Is that in Washington? Different pricing in California. There's no gas stations set in California at $3.76. If there is, I would be shocked.

Like I said, no gas stations at $3.76 in Cali. Also, $3.99 9/10ths is basically $4.00, but that's a good deal for you. The best I've seen is $4.12 a little while ago. Nothing under $4.00. Now it's $4.19.

No, it wasn't under $1.00 a gallon consistently. Stop. The last time I paid less than a dollar a gallon for gas was in the late 80's. So just stop with the nonsense.

Wow. You missed the part where that was the wholesale price of gas. Nice try. Here's a retail chart for L.A., Orange, and Riverside counties... www.laalmanac.com/energy/en12.phpNotice the huge spike during the George W. Bush administration. But the truth is the President has little to do with gas prices. It's a global market. Of course, Bush starting two wars in the Middle East certainly didn't help gas prices any. And I'm not saying I disagree with those wars, I'm just saying that one of them had a direct impact on the cost of oil, which directly affects the price of gas.

Well the war spiked prices at the time, but long term I think they have actually kept prices lower, no? Having control over those oil fields has given the US more power over the price of oil. I think that was one of the motivations behind the war.

I think that was one of the motivations behind the war. We never really controlled the Iraqui oil fields. Once the war was over and a new Iraqui government put in place they controlled it. The recent spike was due to Putin's invasion of Ukraine. The sanctions on Russian oil pumped up the price of oil from everywhere else.

The main point I have been making is our state taxes our gasoline like crazy. Arizona is usually 65-80 cents cheaper. Next time you drive through Needles compare their prices with Lake Havasu City, Laughlin or Kingman….or even compare the actual cities. Needles is a depressed ghost town, while Havasu is prosperous. Why is that?
Taxes.
The day California became “blue” was the harbinger of economic blight.

And yet if California were a country, it would be the 5th largest economy in the world and more productive than India and the United Kingdom. We're not exactly faltering. California is prospering.
