Say what you will about USU they want to better their lot, if the reports are true. They turned down the bag from Nevarez and showed more belief in themselves than Memphis, Tulane, and USF. They took the offer from the PAC and used it to leverage the AAC. You have to say they are more like the PAC than the MW in terms of mindset. Again, USU has a good fanbase, they are just in a small market.

WSU Oregon State SDSU Boise State Colorado State Fresno State Utah State UConn (Football only) Gonzaga (basketball and olympic sports) Wouldn't mind seeing St Mary's for BB if by the Zags join. Unless I'm missing something Given that the PAC deal is only for 5 years, I could see adding St. Mary's if it helps secure Gonzaga.

At least USU is on THIS side of the Rockies. That's about the only positive here. Starting to smell like, MWC+. Didn't want Ute St!!!! And the Big East fiasco. SDSU in, everyone else out. Same thing only different… almost expecting OSU and WSU to bug out right about now…

The rebuilt P12 was always going to have a heavy influence of MWC schools. The MWC wasn't a terrible conference, it just had a lot of dregs at the bottom. No Wyoming. No San Jose State. No New Mexico. No Nevada. That alone is a nice upgrade by subtraction. Then remove 2 (or maybe 3) of Hawaii, UNLV, AFA. It's not the old P12 but it's more than MWC+.

At least USU is on THIS side of the Rockies. That's about the only positive here. Utah State has a good program, and it gives us a presence in Utah. If we get UNLV, we will have a school in each of the following states: Washington Oregon California (North and South) Nevada Utah Colorado Idaho That's a pretty good distribution.

I'll say it... add Gonzaga + Hawaii for football only, and then just stop there for now at 8 teams (obvs counting those 2 schools as a collective 8th member) EDIT: Oh, and be sure to keep the Pac-12 basketball conference tournament in Vegas -- in part as an F-U to UNLV, lol100%. Hawaii football adds week zero where the Pac 12 can have Hawaii and half of the other schools schedule a game when no other schools are playing. That brings in more tv money. Add in the Hawaii bowl and recruiting. Hawaii will get their stadium built. Hopefully UNLV jumps and we'd have 9 football members and 9 basketball members which is perfect for scheduling.

It's a valid question, I wonder the same thing myself. Only thing good about Idaho are the potatoes if you ask me. Those blue horses can shove it, alongside the intolerable elevation that they play at.
