Well, so much for that. Not a good game.
At least they cut out the penalties in the 2nd half. Only 2 committed.
For this team, that's the best progress they made tonight.

I feel bad for our defense. They were hung out to dry by the offense. Been that way for about 15 years around here The offense didn't hang the defense out under rocky. Rocky wanted a conservative offense to protect the Defense. |

Well, no one expected them to win, but they sure looked awful in some areas. And in the areas where they did look good, they eventually fell down because of conditioning. Defense has only been out there for 7 minutes more than the offense, so it's hard to buy into the exhaustion arguments. It takes a great deal of mental toughness to play that hard the entire game when it feels pointless because you don't have confidence that the offense is going to give us a chance to win. It was a mental and emotional breakdown. If we score 2 touchdowns, that energizes the defense. |

Ridiculous amount of penalties this season Just got home from the game ... O M G The parade of penalties... Sign of a VERY poorly coached, undisciplined team. If there was one thing - ONE THING - I wanted to see this season is a tough minded, highly disciplined team that starts out by not beating themselves before working on beating the opponent. This might be worse than Hoke. Yeah, I know that it's a "rebuild" and it can take time. But if Lewis was a program maker/changer, we would see some things we could hang our hats on, something that would show he's building a solid foundation. I see absolutely nothing so far. I see the extreme opposite of that. I see no sign of promise or optimism. These kids have played football for 10-15 years. The mistakes they make would get them benched in my former HS program. It's a little too early but I'm highly doubting Lewis is "the guy". I mean, you have to be really inept as a Coach for a team to look this bad. Pathetic. |

This is so dumb. The game is going to take 5 hours if there is a penalty every play. We finally gave up and left early. Every TO was between 3 1/2 and 4 minutes. The guy that holds up the TO countdown sign was on the sideline right in front of us and the groans these TOs got from the crowd got louder all game. It's RIDICULOUS. 735 kickoff then all tne penalties and Super Bowl length timeouts, the late hour, the cold temperature ... just excruciating |

The o line coach is the problem. His guys are membarrassing. I’m not convinced the head coach isn’t the problem. Aside from the second half against an FCS school, we have scored 6 total points in the other 4 halves of football played so far. Bingo. Some offensive guru he is. What a farce. "AztecFast" ? Sure 🙄 The only 2 things fast are the speed we rack up the stupidest penalties you'll ever see and Lewis talking. Both are WAY too fast. Did Wicker just set out to hire the most opposite guy from Hoke he could find? Starting to look like another eff up by Wicker and ADLTraitor. |

Actually, it is not. We have players that are talented, but they are not well coached. The plethora of penalties are not due to a bad OL...it is due to poor coaching. I have heard your 5 year rebuild nonsense before. You used the same bullcrap during the Tom Craft and Chuck Long era on Aztec Talk. People on the board try to convince you that both of those coaches were lousy, but you kept spewing it would take 5 years to rebuild the program. Of course, in both cases you eventually admitted both of those coaches were no good. It just took a couple of years for you to admit it. Now is no different. We have talented players currently on this squad. No way it should take 5 years to be playing for a championship. Like I said last week, if it takes 5 years we have the wrong head coach. Not correct No you're wrong. He was/is correct. |

Coach Lewis will get it fixed. I hope so, but after tonight, I don't know. The last 3 games have been disturbing. Wasn't Lewis hired for his innovative offense? I haven't seen it with his playcalling, despite the penalties. We expected the defense to struggle, but those poor guys are the ones having to carry this team until they get exhausted. This next game (Cen. Michigan) will be very telling whether he's a bust or not. Losing is one thing, but the way they're losing is really disappointing. Can't they at least beat the spreada? |

I'm not making any judgments about Coach Lewis until we're a few games into the MWC. If we still look like this at that point we may have a problem.

We have a problem. The question is can Lewis fix it and how long will that take. He isn’t getting fired now, obviously, but the sloppiness, lack of discipline, lack of execution and utter ineptitude of the offense really have me seriously doubting him. I hope he turns it around quickly. |

Not hiring Tony White was a huge mistake. Defense isn't the problem He’s calm and has that Rocky Long discipline. Currently we have spastic and undisciplined. |

Seriously, his team shows signs that he's not a very good coach like a the parade of Pop Warner penalties in the third game of the year mostly on offense. His skill players lack fundamentals like catching footballs and running routes And how he rides Cooper like that's f'n his son. Dude gets flagged for flipping the bird and gets left on the field? That's a coach who doesn't prioritize discipline. And it shows in his offense He's so far not been an offensive guru. Just a fast-talking salesman. He's a helluva salesman. He sold all of us on an innovative offense and gave us penalty machine that can't get out of its own way. |

Poorly disciplined and poorly conditioned Two hallmarks of this Aztec team Maybe Lewis meant Aztec Fast was how quickly his players would tire out during the second half I bet they were too simply too exhausted to commit to all those penalties in the second half 😂 |
