Food concessions are ridiculously expensive, even more glaringly so than tix. Are they less at other venues in CA for comparable offerings? Viable alternatives include eating before the game, bringing something to eat at the tailgate etc. I grew up with nothing and had to make adjustments to attend games but found a way to made it work to support my team.

Food at any sporting event is very expensive throughout the country. Ticket prices everywhere for premium seats are expensive. These has always concern me in regards to us ever getting into a major conference because we appear to half the weakest fan support of any major college. First to complain about anything. It may be the fact that our fan base is old and just likes to complain about even the sun coming up in the morning everyday. Lol

They need to follow the same model that was used for basketball. I got tickets years ago and paid less than $1k for my tickets for the season.
I renewed this year and I think they were like $4,500 for the pair. I still cringe at the price, but I pay it because I want to have them and be able to attend when I can. I don't go to the weekday games or weak opponents, but I have a list of people that will take and use them. There is a FOMO mindset with basketball.
We don't have that with football. It needs to be created, bring the prices down and then gradually increase. Starting so high has killed the interest for average fans. I don't have the answers, but the product on the field is not currently worth the prices they are charging.

Costs of entertainment and general living expenses have risen to levels that are not ideal. I’m hoping for the success of our program and that we can find a way to support them along with seeing them thrive. We also have people complaining about the cost of basketball tickets even though we have had huge success just short of a national championship so I’m not sure what the answer is that makes everyone happy. I choose to support the program as best as possible through the ups and downs.

So, out of curiosity, let's look at Boise State prices as a comparison. We like to hold ourselves up as "superior" to Boise St (which, for the record, I agree with -- in every way except football on-field success), and a much better 'fit' for improving our conference affiliation. So it would stand to reason, that with Boise's much lower cost of living counter-acting their better football success... it should be a pretty clean comparison. Boise St seating map: broncosports.com/documents/2024/3/7/FB_Seating_Map_2024.pdfSeats in the upper deck, top of section, @ 10 yard line... are $399 for the season, or $66.5 per game (6 game schedule). There are also some end zone seats that don't really seem totally comparable to Snapdragon, but anyhow those are $244 or just over $37 per game. The 'way up in the very top corner' limited availability cheap seats are $174 / $29 per game. Everyone wanted a new stadium... and was warned that there was zero chance of the type of super-cheap tickets folks had enjoyed for years at the Murph would remain. Upper deck pricing for the Oregon State game is virtually idenitical to Boise State tix on their site (linked above). $62.55 (SDSU) vs. $66.50 (Boise), and $115.60 (SDSU) vs. $99.83 (Boise). And SDSU tix for games other than Oregon State or Washington State seem cheaper than tix for Boise home games. Are football tickets, movie tickets, concert tickets, etc. more expensive than they used to be? Yes. But that's not SDSU's fault.
BSU sold twice as many (20,000+) season tix as the Aztecs this year. (So far)

Food concessions are ridiculously expensive, even more glaringly so than tix. $10 for a fountain soda. Good lord. Serve yourself and save? This has little to do with concession wages - all they have to do is hand you a cup and turn the charge machine in your direction - and everything to do with what's wrong.

Come on aztecfred, get yourself sorted. Guess I could go all homeless, and run the shopping cart? Plenty of room at River Park now… you shouldn't even need to take a Trolley if you play this right … And I saw in an email that these are now available at the bookstore: IKEA next door in case these are a little too pricey (I've seen all of them for less at Costco - which is right next door, too!) Just make camp and you'll be all set to go! Lots of people are doing it now. (beware of the river…)

I typically go to home games to support the team, but honestly prefer watching on TV. When I do go to the game, I usually record it and watch a second time the next day (since I tend to miss a lot of details in person). We need to remember, there isn't much else to do in Boise versus San Diego and you can't compare SDSU football game prices to a concert knowing that "one and done" event typically sells out.
This last "opening day" game offered the cheapest tickets for the season, so while we may have better opponents later, the fans will have to pay more to attend them. I'm a little worried that extra cost will hurt attendance when we need the fans the most. For Saturday's game, I spent more on parking, beer and food then I did on the seats, I hope SDSU needs to consider that when they price things out. Logically it seems like we should price to maximize attendance, then raise seat prices when demand starts to exceed supply. But this is San Diego, perhaps we wouldn't even sell out with free tickets? I'm sure they have pros modeling everything out to figure out what generates the most profit.

Was there nothing else to do in San Diego in the late '60s when we were getting something like 40,000 at home games?

I would have brought 10 people to the game but not at $115 for a visitor side upper level. They just won’t pay that much and I can t afford to drop $1200 for one game. Sucks.
I had season tix for year 1 of snapdragon.it is a great arena and perfect for Aztec football. Would have renewed but came to find out that for at least 3/4 of all the places to hangout on the concourse… my season tix and AF contribution didn’t mean squat … can’t get in unless you pay even more. The whole “exclusivity “ thing is a major turnoff.
Charging this much is kind of the antithesis of what my SDSU experience was …. A quality education for a fair tuition price/cost That should be the ethos here …. A quality.Football game experience for a fair price. Used to really enjoy taking the family and friends tailgating without breaking the Bank.

If you don’t want to pay for access to the premium areas maybe consider buying a $60 ticket (or less for certain games) and visiting the awesome Cutwater Bar or Dos Equis area where a ton of people enjoy these venues. Typically you pay extra for more amenities. Same for table service at a club, buying a nicer car or sitting in first class versus coach, etc. Make it work within your budget and support the team. Or choose to take your money elsewhere but the complaining doesn’t solve anything. They reduced the prices from last year and can’t give the farm away.
