Yeah, you never know about that. It's possible. It sucks when that happens, but it does happen. I hope he's on a short leash with him. We need to win ball games, and not be an experimental team. I'm over that. Once you go down this path, you can’t turn back. It’s O’Neil unless he gets hurt. I don't agree. That would not be smart, at all. If he's overwhelmed by D1, and/or throws many picks/has multiple turnovers, amongst other potential on going issues that Freshman QB's go through, then they'll bench him, or at least they should. If they don't, then that's irresponsible. You never know what you're going to get from a True Frosh QB. The last thing you want to do is ruin a True Freshman QB's confidence, especially one that shows a lot of promise for the future. If he goes out there and can handle the offense in a "Managers" role, then he'll have a better chance. I'll have to trust the coaches instincts for now. Maybe they'll have a two QB system, I don't know. |

I've said that I'll be patient and trust in his decisions for now. The only thing that I wouldn't like is if he, for example, sticks with the QB to the detriment of the player, and or, the team. |

It doesn’t mean he’s the starter for all time. If he’s not playing well I am sure he will be replaced. The season hasn’t started and people are already jumping off cliffs. Relax.

I agree with jt as QB3 He must've been perfect in practice when nobody was watching. The competition must've been close if the #1 QB nearly the entire race is #3 now. Of course the last two opener QB1s were sold to us on did really well in practice while their scrimmage performances sucked. So this makes three in a row. |

We recruited O’Neil to be our QB, everyone was extremely excited when we landed him and now because he isn’t throwing for 500 yards in our scrimmages we are all upset. Give the kid a chance. Even Lewis said that his offense won’t be up to full speed until almost mid season next year. Rocky said it took about 3 years to install his defense. Be patient and enjoy the process because Lewis won’t be around long.

Be patient and enjoy the process because Lewis won’t be around long. Although we haven't seen any onfield results yet, signs point to Lewis being a really good coach. Hopefully he likes SD and sticks around awhile. If we were able to get into a P4 conference while he is here, then the SDSU job just got a whole lot better and the pool of better jobs just got smaller. However, if a school like Wisconsin came calling then he'd probably be gone regardless. |

It was the below 50% passing with the most INTs that did it for me |

It’s also very suspicious that he’s a highly regarded freshman coming in and you have to wonder if he was promised anything. Purely speculation, but why else would he be in front of the other guys? Lewis and Co. are coaching to win on the field. That is the only metric they are making decisions by. Being suspicious of other motives is silly. Lewis indicated this is the way they would go last week when get described Johnson as "athletic", O'Neil as "anticipates throws well" and Duffy "needs to work on his accuracy". Based on that alone I expected either Johnson or O'Neil to get the nod, with the lean towards O'Neil. Sounds to be Duffy is #3. Time will tell. |
