Wonder how he jumped Duffy? Still think Johnson will see the field sooner than later,

From what we have seen in the scrimmages and the open parts of practice, this is a massive surprise. He must be perfect when there are no eyeballs. the scrimmages must mean nothing?
Let's hope it works out, but I am not hopeful.

Wonder how he jumped Duffy? Still think Johnson will see the field sooner than later, How did he jump Duffy? I mean how was he in top 3? Spring Scrimmage - O’Neil only had 15 passing yards on 2-6 and one interception. Fall Scrimmage - - O’Neil only had 79 passing yards on 8-for-14 and two interceptions. I am not getting warm fuzzies.

Wow, this sounds really pathetic to me. He clearly was not the best with his feet, or the most accurate or the strongest arm. He clearly wasn’t making the best decisions either. This sounds like Lewis is not trying to win this year. He’s just trying to secure his future quarterback at the expense of the team.
I hope I am wrong about this, but he did not win the job and he does not give the team the best chance to win.
It’s a little early for predictions, but why not. My gut tells me SDSU barely wins 17-14 in the opener with the offense looking bad. Questions then popping up why is the third or fourth best quarterback starting over multiple better guys?
Don’t get me wrong, he is talented and he’s probably gonna be good in two or three years. But it’s a real disservice to put a young guy that has not earned the job ahead of other guys that have.

Got a feeling, it's gonna be Cooper left, Cooper right, Cooper up the middle, a pass attempt to TE for 3 yards. Then Cooper left,Cooper....up to and until TX A&M-Commerce can make us pass. Sad part, that sounds like last 12 years? Over/ under on a pass attempt over 25 yards? Can only hope coach has seen something we haven't!

I found myself rooting for Johnson. However, I’m pretty sure Lewis came here to win. I know this sounds crazy, but highly respected offensive guru Sean Lewis just MAY know more than some of us. He just MAY know his own offfense better than you. MAY…. He also possibly has seen more of the full competition than some of you. I’m willing to give the offense 8( maybe even 9) plays before calling for his head. I mean as a true freshman Danny should get that long leash of 8-9 plays to get his feet under him. Do any of you even have a clue what happened at the final closed scrimmage or are you just bitching because it’s all you’re good at? Just curious.

Wow, we all know better than the coaches, don't we?

Wow, we all know better than the coaches, don't we? He must have killed it in practice. The scrimmage performance left a lot to be desired. I can’t think of the last time a State QB was better during games than practice and scrimmages Maybe he was killing it in the closed portions of scrimmage or have another hear that we have not seen as of yet.

My guess is the kid is killing it by learning the playbook and other intangibles. I'm surprised he got the nod, but I'll fully support Lewis and his decision.

He must've been perfect in practice when nobody was watching.
The competition must've been close if the #1 QB nearly the entire race is #3 now.
Of course the last two opener QB1s were sold to us on did really well in practice while their scrimmage performances sucked. So this makes three in a row.

I’ve certainly had no reports.

I honestly hope that I am way wrong and O’Neill kills it! He just seems so less capable than the other guys. It’s also very suspicious that he’s a highly regarded freshman coming in and you have to wonder if he was promised anything. Purely speculation, but why else would he be in front of the other guys?

The only thing I can think of is that he has the best grasp of the offense. I don't know what else it could be, unless he had incredible closed scrimmages. He'll most certainly be the game manager type, and hold on to the job unless he starts making mistakes when it comes time to throw. I thought it would be Johnson for sure. He's the most dynamic, but I'll give Lewis the benefit of the doubt for now, for sure, since he's there everyday, but I hope he's on a short leash if he doesn't produce.

Yeah, you never know about that. It's possible. It sucks when that happens, but it does happen. I hope he's on a short leash with him. We need to win ball games, and not be an experimental team. I'm over that.
