Interesting. So he isn’t focused on playing close to home, that baby excuse sounds like a load of BS now. He will make a lot more money to support that baby He did say in his post he was transferring for reason outside NIL, so…

I dunno, if that's the case, why did he say his decision was due to factors outside of NIL? Granted, that doesn't square.

They all say this. Parrish was the fans. Butler was to get more exposure and a better chance at the NBA. But its all NIL.

Saunders is visiting Washington (Sprinkle) and Virginia (Bennett) this week 5/2-5/5. Good programs & good coaches.

Just saying that given he has entered the portal, even if he ultimately plans to transfer to ASU for personal/ family reasons, visiting other schools gives him a baseline for his value and benefits. Just like job hunting, if you have interest multiple companies, see what each is willing to offer. from there you negotiate with your prefered job.

Seems like if you read between the lines in the Ziegler interview with Chris Ello and T Gwynn Jr. that Parrish wasn't asked to leave but they didn't really try to stop him either and were good with him moving on. Butler they wanted to stay and Saunders was a complete shock as he had just hosted recruits the weekend before and spoke of the merits of the culture, family atmosphere, how they play to win championships and expect to win big games. He supposedly downplayed the importance of NIL with these recruits so he was Dutch's go to for chaperones on visits for recruits. I think the family obligation possible baby on the way was a sudden thing that made him realize he needed money for not just himself but his new family. This is why it appears he entered the portal late. As for going to ASU to be close to home, he will probably weigh that against the possible higher dollars elsewhere.

It seems coaches with either a connection to SDSU or who've seen our players from the opposing bench have a fondness for poaching from SDSU. Pope, BYU/Kentucky Sprinkle, Utah St./Washington Loyd, Arizona/Maui Classic Bennett, UVA/Wazzu Diebler, Ohio St./(has ties to Bryce Drew, Grand Canyon)

Bennett's Virginia has typically been in the top 5 defenses for points allowed for a long time. I could see him going to a school that emphasizes defense way more than offense. Last year Virginia was #3 in Scoring Defense and #345 in Scoring Offense. Except for the year they won the National Championship though, his teams have fared poorly in MM. But I'm sure their NIL $ war chest is full.

Sure the timing could have been better, but players were still entering the portal by the hundreds until May 1. That's the deadline for ENTERING, not the deadline for SIGNING. Believe it or not, many players go back and forth, and weigh pros and cons, before making their decisions. All of life works that way sometimes.

Saunders had some strong moments for us and tons of potential with his build though I never really saw him willing to mix it up underneath to rebound. I don't know if that was something he wasn't asked to do or something he didn't like to do ? It seems like the lack of rebounding this past year was our biggest weakness so I think it was the later...?
It makes me think of the recent article about Mike Ivie and the change to first base from catcher because he couldn't throw the ball back to the pitcher. I wonder if Saunders even with his big body will ever be a really good rebounder ?? yes he has a lot of promise and I know Dutch liked his trajectory but if he never develops into a strong rebounder maybe his moving on isn't the end of the world ? Any thoughts ?

Wait.....that doesn't comply with the knee-jerk reactions of some of our more emo fans. The timing still killed the school. Unless you think he found out about a possible baby three days ago. It happens like that so that is a possibility. Seems like a pretty genuine guy so if he was hosting recruits while having one foot out the door that would be out of character from what I've seen. Also not out of the question if they baby mama situation is proven, that other schools offer him family housing as well + more NIL. Maybe we'll hear the true story and maybe we won't but if Byrd and Waters stay then I don't think we have a mutiny for more NIL money on our hands. Keshad, Butler, and Parrish were all going to play their graduate seasons so they either gave us 4 years or their Junior and Senior seasons. Hopefully this is just a one off for a kid that had a life situation. Maybe this will still mean that culture, program and family atmosphere can still work with reasonable NIL funds. Keeping my fingers crossed. Go Aztecs!

So wonder of the 3 NIL seekers who had the integrity to let Dutcher know before they put it on social media
In addition after you tell Dutcher simply say as little as possible

You might be an Angry White Man. I'd have this checked out with your physician. There's probably something they can give you for it. www.gq.com/story/why-angry-white-men-love-calling-people-cucks
