If the USU fan base holds true to form, I’m guessing it was the referees fault.

Utah State scored and was leading 24-23 with 8:46 left in 1st half. Purdue missed three shots on the next possession but got 3 offensive rebounds before dunking it. Purdue then went on a 16-0 run while Utah State shot 0-12. Purdue led by those 16 points at the half and then came out and outscored the Aggies 18-6 to start the 2nd half to put the game away.

But given our conference's results so far, losing to a #13 seed now would be a big black mark on our conference. Gotta win, preferably by a nice margin.

Watching MM, we are regularly reminded that in so very many of the games, there are long runs of scoring and/or inept offense: good teams going 5-8 minutes while being outscored 17-0 or 21-4 or 19-4. It happens. Not just low offense teams like us but high-scoring ones too. If we go scoreless for a while, we just have to be patient and not go chucking up 3s. #6 NET Iowa State went over 6 minutes without a FG at the beginning of the Washington State game today. I mostly agree. Re ISU, they can survive a drought more easily than most as their O can score a lot of points quickly and their D is elite.

No pressure. Can't do any worse than the 4 teams that finished ahead of us in our conference.

And then there was one.
Yale is very good for sure, but I am not sure they have played a team that can defend like the Aztecs.
A lot will depend on how the game is called, hopefully it isn't the MWC style of ticky tac calls leading to an undeserved FT parade.
If the Aztecs can force them to score from the floor instead of the line and if SDSU shoots even averagely, it should be a win.

The USU vs Purdue was a bad match up for USU. Not making excuses for them just a fact. MM is mainly all about match ups. Just about all of these teams are good and could win other game if they were playing teams they matched up well against. Last year we match up well against every team we played except UCON.

I agree, MM is how teams match up, but Purdue is a bad match up for anyone unless you have a decent 7'-0" to defend Edey.

Utah State didn't play well, but when Purdue is hitting on all cylinders like they were today, they are extremely tough to beat. But losing by 40 leaves a bit to be desired.

The GCU, Alabama is Crazy. GCU'S got some athletes. I like how they take it to the rim and challenge the Bama defense to stop them.

This year I was most disappointed by the Boise and New Mexico losses. But the worst was Nevada. Would have been nice to to have a few more wins and more importantly $6 million dollars.

Unless your sdsu, it’s hard to win at sea level and not getting any calls.
Signed,

UNLV destroyed tonight by Seton Hall 91-68 on the road. I read the Hall was one of the last Teams out of the Tourney. They are letting the Committee know Boise and UNR were $#!+ picks.

Seton Hall playing in Walsh gym (1,316) is like the Aztecs playing in Peterson gym after the remodel and closing the upper level. A concert at the Prudential Center (18,000+) for March 28 caused the basketball team to move to a smaller venue. When the 1973 Aztecs men's volleyball team beat Long Beach State to win the National Championship at the Sports Arena in 1973, 10,000 fans were in attendance. The other thing from that game, the players wore dolphin type shorts.
