If I had his number, I would. If I had Kawhi's number, I'd also call him and tell him to snap off a couple of million to the Mesa Foundation. Neither would likely take my call. 619-594-5200 I called, we talked for an hour or so and look what happened, we signed our first guy. He appreciated the motivation I provided. Were you able to get Kawhi’s number?

Everyone would like their end of the bench guys to be “prospects,” but that’s what Demarshay was at one point. You can’t just cycle through those guys and expect to continue landing them. Ultimately, Demarshay being on the team has so very little to do with how well they do this year or in the future. In light of how inconsequential it is, the comments here are very out of pocket, IMO. He might do ok with some extended run. He might not. He probably won’t get it either way, but we don’t see any of his contributions at practice, in the locker room, etc. It’s poor form to be so critical in a public setting, IMO. How could you say it’s inconsequential? It’s very consequential. He’s a player that isn’t good enough to play for us and he’s taking up the scholarship that could be used on an important piece that could help us. People need to understand things have changed and this team is now a Top 25 program year in year out, without a huge budget backing group of boosters and everything matters. This is not a blue ribbon participation trophy team, this is a Upper Level D1 Basketball program that needs every player to be at that level. The player in question has shown little to no improvement over a 3 year span and it's time for a reality check and to accept the fact that it's NOT working out and it appears nowhere close to ever being reality of ever seeing any kind of useful production from this player. ---Trade out this spot on a Transfer Portal/Grad Transfer "Big Body" Center that could provide 10+ minutes a game of rim protection and a couple rebounds and this would be a HUGE upgrade from someone just riding the pine game after game. Time for an upgrade

Roomers are picking up that we will sign the center from Michigan State in Mady Sissoko. Zeigler also hinted that we will offer a 3rd scholarship to a wing to replace Parrish. I'm thinking that 3rd scholarship has to come from Johnson.

Sissoko and Boyd are now following each other on IG.

Why are people excited for Sissoko? He looks like a backup bench piece. He doesn’t look to me like a guy who would be our starting center. He’s very limited offensively.

He started 59 games over the last two years for Michigan State. He’s an experienced 4/5 who can help bring along Heide, Gwath and Compton. He’s rebounding and experience.

I want my garbage minute players to be younger with an opportunity to improve. Not a player entering his fourth season with SDSU. Not a player who shoots the ugliest FT I have ever seen at the ncaa level. If demarshay wants to play, he will need to transfer to a lower tier program. He could get real minutes of playing time at some schools on his physical talents. If DJ has no further playing aspirations, values the education and experience of sdsu then maybe he decides to stay but I know I would want to play. I would look to transfer to a bottom 100 ranked D1 team and get some playing time. Go aztecs Everyone would like their end of the bench guys to be “prospects,” but that’s what Demarshay was at one point. You can’t just cycle through those guys and expect to continue landing them. You think my comments are extremely critical? 4th season? Ugly FT? Good physical talents? Best if he wants to play that he should transfer to a less quality program? Really this is benign. I wish him well. I believe it is his choice. I know I would want to play and contribute and would transfer.

Why are people excited for Sissoko? He looks like a backup bench piece. He doesn’t look to me like a guy who would be our starting center. He’s very limited offensively. Look back a few years, Yanni Wetzell and Jadan LeDee were basically good backup players with not much to talk about and look at what happen when they arrived on the Mesa. Just saying, this program is more about The Program and Coach Dutch has been doing a good job with THE program. In Coach Dutch we trust! Go Aztecs!

Which fits perfectly with our needs. The staff is high on Heide, and Sissoko provides experience and doesn't demand high usage. He's a 20-minute guy with low usage who rebounds very well. We don't need another Ledee as this point and couldn't attract one because we have Heide. We can even offer a starting gig, while Heide still know he's getting 20+.

I agree. It’s a new world out there. With NIL and unlimited transfers, players now see their obligation to a school as a 1 year commitment. No reason the school’s commitment shouldn’t be 1 year as well. If DJ’s scholarship can be used to bring in a contributor (which he is not) then there is no reason not to go that route. College basketball is a ruthless business. Dutcher and Fisher have never run their basketball programs in that manner, they always treat the players like family. It's that trust that lands them big commitments. And we sign a lot of 3* guys who are gym rats and high quality individuals. I find it easy to root for a team comprised as such.

I don’t think Kawhi has a phone. Reminds me of a time when someone asked Freddie Couples why he never answers his phone and he said "because there is almost always someone on the other line."

Why are people excited for Sissoko? He looks like a backup bench piece. He doesn’t look to me like a guy who would be our starting center. He’s very limited offensively. Fair question, but my answer is yes, I'd be excited for Sissoko. Dutcher is looking to build a team, with pieces that he deems important. I trust Dutch's judgment/evaluation and to me, Sissoko is the Jay Pal replacement. They are both long, post players that provide rim protection and rebounding, but not going to be relied upon offensively. Pal's stat line from this last year is not impressive, but I definitely saw him as a valuable player on last year's team. If Sissoko is intended to replace LeDee, I agree, I'm not excited. If he's intended to be a role player, then yes, I'd love him on this team. Our team will guard/wing driven next year and while Sissoko has upside (was top 50 ESPN recruit out of HS), he's depth, defensive and rim protection that we need.

SDSU was looking at a lot of underclassman centers and top grad centers in the portal. NIL was a main factor.

Is Mahaney still in play for our Aztecs? Michigan just received a commitment from a guard from Auburn.

Getting Boyd is not enough to offset the lost of scoring from this year team. Think of Boyd scoring replacing Parrish scoring. We need another scorer to replace Ledee's points. Getting Mahaney or another scoring wing is crucial to a deep run next year.
