Why is it only athletes get a cut of the revenue? What about all the research students that bring in hundreds of millions in grants and increase the academic prestige of a university? Should the universities start profit Sharing with every student rather than pull "activity fees" from students food budgets?

I do recall that is one of the selling points for the Innovation District. Those that create new things can profit on the patents of those. Imagine creating the next Musk, Bezos or other tech guys and having that resource contribute back to the university. We are the 5th largest county in the nation which has but two, UCSD and SDSU, research universties.

From a football standpoint I'd be perfectly fine if the biggest 30 universities f*cked off and formed their own super conference. Let them throw away decades of tradition to chase a few more dollars. The amount of resources those football programs have dwarf your average FBS school. Even well funded schools like UCLA, ASU, Michigan State, etc. aren't competitive with the big boys. There are only so many programs that can pay big dollars for the top athletes and the five star kids already attend those schools anyways. It's not like the three star kids who pick to SDSU or Boise will have an opportunity to get paid by Ohio State.

It's Un American. How is Ohio State harmed by State playing in the same division? They simply aren't. If Ohio State wants to offer $100K a kid to play at OSU, have at it, but what is the need to make it mandatory? The answer is not surprising, it's about cementing their status and walling off any competition. They can wrap it in whatever giftwrap paper they want but it's that simple. It's all anti-competitive behavior.

We had inferior football and basketball teams for decades. Has nothing to do with today since we currently have a decade of winning football and 2 decades of winning basketball. You can't just throw that away because you want to add us to dead weight due to one down year in football. Secondly... Doesn't matter. When the MWC first split off from the WAC-16, the front range wanted SDSU & UNLV. That was back in 1997 when everything you said was actually recent history. We had about 2 years of recent football success before we were invited to the BCS Big East in 2011. We are a special case in college athletics that is very close to breaking our glass ceiling. It might not be today but it will be someday soon. We’ve had 2 down years in Football. Last years 7-5 record in mediocre conference with a number of lousy programs we should beat in our sleep. Plus playing a FCS school- a terrible one - was one of the wins. Add in a half empty beautiful new stadium - without canopies I might add- in its inaugural year cemented last year as “down” as well. Next season will likely be “down” as well and 2025 will probably be .500-ish … and that’s if our new coach is a rock star. So likely will be “down” for 3-4 seasons when all is said and done. This is collateral fldamsgevwheb you have a lousy coach like Hoke.

I'll bet $100 to our football NIL group that the Aztecs are .500 or better in the 2024 regular season. Happy to extend that to up to three folks who want to take the under.

Getting back above .500 in the MWC, even with games against OSU and WSU, shouldn't be that difficult. SDSU would have been 6-6 this year if the Aztecs didn't piss away the games against Boise and Nevada.

We were two fumbles, three missed kicks, about five drops and an interception away from being 7-5 this season. The portal changes everything. Just look at UNLV, of all people. They brought in, I believe, 55 kids last off season, and look at the results. If Lewis is the charismatic recruiter I think he is, our chances next year will be as good as anyone's. I'm renewing my seats.

Welcome to our level OSU and WSU. Time to do with out the fat P5 money. They’re going to have to go through the 5 stages of grief. I think they are in the denial stage.

Its got to be frustrating being either an OSU and WSU fan right now. They've got left behind and everything is falling apart for them....both their starting QB's have entered the Portal and OSU's coach has moved on to bigger and better things. They'll soon be at a G5 level. Hopefully they'll at least get a ton of money from the PAC 12 rights and can use that to build a reputable new PAC conference, but I'm afraid it'll just be the entire MWC+2.

Going to be interesting with the MW in 2024 and hard to predict
Just saw that Tedford will leave Fresno - Nevada fired their coach - BSU let their coach go even though they are in the Champs game - Lobos fired their coach - SDSU just hired a new coach
UNLV - do their HC and OC stay or are they going to heading out?
As we know players are likely to leave a school for another school for NIL money or if they start hearing from P5 schools
Very much a Wild Wild situation in college football
