It will interesting to see how heavy flooding effects the Salton Sea, and dry lake beds near Baker, Death Valley & the California/Nevada Border... plus Lake Meade & possibly Lake Powell & the Great Salt Lake. On one of my trips to Fort Irwin, Bicycle Lake was filled with water. Quite a sight! Usually, it is just open ground where you could see how fast you could drive your armored vehicles.

Far too much attn here (& elsewhere) is being paid to hurricane vs tropical storm. That's a measurement of windforce around the center of the storm. A slow-moving, "wet" tropical storm is FAR more dangerous in terms of water dropped, flooding, etc. than a hurricane that moves fairly quickly. agreed, but i dont think anyone is selling short the potential for disaster. our roads, our infrastructure was not built for voluminous amounts of rain during a short period of time. we will have issues, so its good to see the City (and others) taking necessary precautions in advance. Some people were talking about driving up to Laguna to "watch the show". Heard a guy say he was "pretty sure" it's not that different from other summer storms we've had.

This is monsoon season by the way. The "Guy" you're talking about is rather accurate.

Although it’s an interesting topic…can anyone explain why this is in the Aztec Sports and Conference Discussion” section of Aztec Mesa…this weather event will in no way impact any Aztec sports and should be moved into the appropriate discussion section…

Doesn't look like that'll be a factor, but get its relevance. Thus far, it hasn't been any different than a typical rain storm. We're expecting 1-2 inches & 15-20 MPH max winds here in Scripps Ranch, but you never know. 2-3 hours until the "eye" hits.

Same story here in La Costa. It has been steadily raining and has gotten heavier in the last half hour. Winds are blowing but not crazy at this point. Right now, doesn't seem like it is going to be a major impact here but we shall see.

Depending upon the amount of rain, it could have an impact on Saturday's game.

Well, the weather in SD seems to have really changed since I left...... Monsoon season in the desert is between July and September. That is when the desert gets the great majority of its precipitation. Woke up to 0.02" of rain and it is still at 0.02" now. I have multiple private stations I can monitor. Julian is currently at 0.53".

Friends in LA Quinta reported they are finally getting a steady solid rain. Spirts of harder rain but not torrential downpour) . May last for 2 or 3 hours.
After the overnight rain, and the current rain keeps up for a few hours, may get a little over 1" maybe 2". Nothing the area flood system can't handle.

I go to La Quinta for 3 days of golf twice per year. They have massive infrastructure to take care of the monsoon rains.

News doing news things, not shocked by this. Do think it’s a significant soaker pre-fire season, hard to be mad about that!
