They didn’t have an ACC invite? How did they get in? They begged until They got one.

Won’t happen. Can’t afford it. We only receive $4M today in media dollars. It can be overcome with better ticket sales. Ok, then let's just sell more tickets. That's never been a problem.

The point is that 4 million dollars shouldn’t be a stumbling block. Hell the big 12 might even pay us 4 million. What we shouldn’t be doing is staying in the mwc.

The problem is the Big 12 isn't interested. They grew too big too fast, and their media partners don't want to pay extra for us, and the Big 12 doesn't see the advantage of adding us at this point. No extra money, additional logistical and adminstrative costs/time involved. They don't need us, they don't want us, so it's highly unlikely that we get in. It' sucks, but the College Sports Mafia that runs this stuff left us on the outside because they still, after all this time, don't see us as big time enough to want us on the inside. They're wrong, of course, but if we haven't convinced them otherwise by now I don't know what will convince them.

I'll be even less sure after < 25K today and 32K or so for UCLA next week. It is going to be a ghost town at snapdragon today. UCLA will not sell out, but keep in mind for UCLA the cheapest ticket is $83. There is no changing that nor the ghost town you will see today. But swap out Utah State and Nevada for ASU or Utah and you will sell a hell of lot more tickets at a higher price point. JMO.

One idea I haven’t seen that I’m sure many might shoot down is for OSU and WSU to go independent one season thus lowering exit fees from roughly $34M to $17M for the elite 6 of MWC to give notice. Since Houston and Cincinnati were able to negotiate $45M down to $17M, hopefully the 6 MWC schools invited to join could negotiate $17M down to $10M paid over several years to make more palatable.
You say, but about the 2024/2025 season? For non major sports this could be an issue but worked out. For football it could be fairly easy to get OSU and WSU up to 12 games. The elite 6 MWC schools invited to the PAC could give them a game on their bye weeks during the year. Some PAC schools that left them might do that as well. Especially Oregon and Washington who might do one last Civil War and Apple Cup. OSU and WSU could play a home and away game too. Buy games early in the season could work too.
Main point is they could keep more money for one year which may be attractive and the elite MWC schools could lower the exit fees. The threat of something like this might also bring the remaining MWC schools to the bargaining table as well and get the exit fee down to the already mentioned $10M for us to join the PAC in 2024 season.
Anyway, food for thought.
Go Aztecs!

If they go independent will they still be able to keep the Pac12 money?

If they go independent will they still be able to keep the Pac12 money? I had read at one point they could when they were 4. Might have to be the PAC2 for one year with no champion.

But we got kneecapped and ended up with high ticket prices and no Pac 12 invite and now SDSU is paying for it with poor attendance.

SDSU needs a reality check. With the MLS starting, the women's soccer and other events bringing revenue for the stadium , SDSU needs to lower thier ticket prices and build attendance.
Excessive ticket prices not only limits funds that boosters would be willing to donate to NIL, but the lack of attendance causes a lack of interest in the program and limits corporate interest in NIL sponsorships.
Just like what basketball accomplished under Fisher (with the help of The Show), SDSU needs to do anything and everything they can to build the football program and game environment.
The coaches and team need to change the perception of the program by winning with a product that people will support, but charging NFL prices for what most consider an inferior product is going to cause more damage to a program that is already barely scraping by.

The product doesn’t warrant the price point and the economy and inflation are eating into people’s entertainment dollars. I’m with you on supporting the school but SDSU needs to bring in more fans and they aren’t doing it with $100+ tickets.

At this point, I would be extactic if they did a buy 1 get 1 in the upper levels. I don't care that I paid full price for my seats! I buy stuff that ends up going on sale all the time, and at least I have my seats locked in. Personality I'd rather them discount prices and have a semi-full stadium than an empty stadium that's boring and lacks fan energy.

They used to do buy one get one free all the time when I was in school. They have to do something. It’s weird that they haven’t addressed it at all. Looking at the UCLA a game there are tons of tickets available. I think the administration thought UCLA fans would drive down but it doesn’t look like they are going to buy $100+ tickets either. Who ever advised SDSU on ticket prices really screwed the pooch.
