ESPN has an 81.9% likelihood for an Alabama win. Not sure why, but ESPN increased Alabama's win likelihood to 84.3%. Based on recent play, I personally think it is more like 60%. We will see on Friday.

Beating Alabama will be a monster task. We need a big game from Seiko (like he had against Utah State). Need some big time open 3s to fall to soften their D.

Forget analytics, our most significant advantage in this game is in our experience and age. Alabama is as talented as any team in the tournament, but to this point, neither of their opponents has applied enough pressure to ever put the outcome into question. With all the outside noise surrounding their program and their youth, how will they respond when pushed?
Point spreads and chances of winning percentages are based on quantitative data. It’s easy to put data into a spreadsheet and come up with predictive results. I’m interested to see how Alabama will react when the stakes get raised. Can they play from behind, will they get tight down the stretch if the game is close?
I think we can win this game.

Off topic comment I had that didn't deserve creating a new thread. Alabama's rallying cry it "Roll Tide Roll." They are 200 miles from the nearest decent tide. We have real tides just down the street, so to speak, from our University. Just doesn't make sense to me. FYI. A "Tide" is a herd of elephants...... Google says it's a herd or less commonly a parade.
Source on a tide of elephants?

Considering recent events, maybe they should wash with Tide.

Wait. So we have higher FG, 3P, and FT percentages? Nice.

Wait. So we have higher FG, 3P, and FT percentages? Nice. But the rebound margin is where Alabama excels. We can beat them, it's doable.

This whole game boils down to Johnson ability to guard Miller. Miller is their major scorer and Johnson can handle him without help bama will be in trouble.

Alabama is 1-7 all time in Sweet 16 games. Just sayin'... Well we're 0-2... Understand - just pointing out that Alabama is not some storied basketball blue blood like Duke or North Carolina. Shock the world!

From the Univ. of Alabama Athletics website: How the Crimson Tide Got its Name
In early newspaper accounts of Alabama football, the team was simply listed as the "varsity" or the "Crimson White" after the school colors. The first nickname to become popular and used by headline writers was the "Thin Red Line." The nickname was used until 1906. The name "Crimson Tide" is supposed to have first been used by Hugh Roberts, former sports editor of the Birmingham Age-Herald. He used "Crimson Tide" in describing an Alabama-Auburn game played in Birmingham in 1907, the last football contest between the two schools until 1948 when the series was resumed. The game was played in a sea of mud and Auburn was a heavy favorite to win. But, evidently, the "Thin Red Line" played a great game in the red mud and held Auburn to a 6-6 tie, thus gaining the name "Crimson Tide." Zipp Newman, former sports editor of the Birmingham News, probably popularized the name more than any other writer.

Alabama is 1-7 all time in Sweet 16 games. Just sayin'... Well we're 0-2... But we are undefeated in games we score more points than our opponents. Just saying we have a fighting chance. 😉

Or perhaps his armed security guard just needed a day off?
