Not quite a Joe Namath "guarantee," but if our EFGP is above 40%, we will win. 29 of 58 FG 6 made from the arc .5 × 6 = 3 29 +3 = 31 31/58 = eFG of 53.4% Is this right? Plus my favorite stat... 17 assists! |

As I've posted before, I don't usually read any posts that are made during the time the game is in progress because of so many negative comments early in the game. I thought it would be save to read them today. It was much better than regular game threads, but I was still surprised at the number of negative posts made complaining about one Aztec or another. We'd didn't run off to a 20 - 0 lead and all 5 starters didn't have 10 points by the 10 minute point, but the team played a great game for the full 40 minutes, IMO.
Some people just bitch to make themselves feel better. I’m philosophical about it. It’s cathartic for some to vent, however misguided it may be, during the heat of the battle. I tease about “Meltdown Mesa” (and reading the game threads, am I wrong?) but the great majority of posters here are die hard Aztec fans and at the end of the day we all just want the best for the program as a whole and root for its success. |

I regularly see passionate frustration being expressed during games by a variety of regular subscribers to this board. i see them rant and rave and also wish and hope for the most positive Aztec outcomes. They wear their hearts on their sleeves. And then I see them write things about how great or talented or important or beloved those same kids or coaches are. They don't disappear from the board when we win. And maybe look up what the meaning of trolling actually is nowadays pops. Trolling is done to "deliberately" elicit a rise out of someone. 90% of the posters don't care how people react, they just want to express themselves. If you really think everything is always good when you're watching a sport and no one on that team ever does anything wrong, you must be having an incredibly bland fan experience. The only bad thing about a good Aztec win is how sanctimonious some of you get about your self-ascribed 1000% supportive behavior. Lighten up and let everyone enjoy how they enjoy this forum. |

Great win today. We did a good job of using our size on both ends of the court to punish the undersized 13 seed. This team is (very) good at beating those types of teams.
Real test coming next week vs. Bama.
Their team is built similarly to our team. They have a legit NBA prospect in Brandon Miller. I wonder how low scoring the game will be..

It is true it will be harder against perhaps the most talented, athletic team in the tourney. Our guys are underdogs this time. Gonna take Herculean win at Kansas type vibes. But, we love our team and know on their best day, they can rebound line Mensah today (and KJ often), hit the clutch 3 like Parrish today, score down low like Aguek, drive like Lamont, mid-range fadeaway like Bradley, dribble, steal and pop a 3 like Trammel, D and 3 like Seiko, and muscle mid-range like LeDee. Gonna take top level effort, but I…I believe…I believe that…(you know how it goes) |

Awesome. We knew how well those guys could play when they put it all together. This was the best overall performance of the season. This is why some of the WTF? games were so frustrating and brought a level of complaining and criticism from AM & the fanbase. Because we all believed they had THIS in them. We also have very high hopes and expectations of the program because of our success to date. We’ve been on the fringe of solidifying a more notable national reputation. I think everyone in the program from Dutch on down to the players would say THIS is what we are shooting for, who we want to be, and why we’re all here. And they’ve done it. There are more levels to go … E8, F4 and if I dare dream, a NC. I’m so proud of the entire program, so happy for each and every one of them … it’s so well deserved. I’m also happy for us that have so much passion and appreciation for this program and go to great lengths to follow and support the team. I’m greedy, I want more. I have been saying for several seasons that getting to an E8 would be amazing … it will. Many seasons it hasn’t been realistic, this one felt like it could be. Then we’d losing opportunity games that would seem to knock us back down to a plateau we haven’t wandered far from for many seasons now … really the entire Dutcher HC era. But anything now seems possible again… we can get a F4. Why not us? Many stranger and far fetched things have happened in the amazing tournament. This will be a great week, lots of kudos, anticipation and speculation. I heard us mentioned more today nationally than in most entire seasons. Look forward to every minute the coming days leading up to tip In Louisville Friday night. It’s a great time to be an Aztec. |

IMO only a loser would buy one at this time as it is akin to thinking we are done. I do not think we are done. I watched Alabama game. They looked beatable. Maryland missed at least 9 layups. They also shot real poor. Yet Alabama was playing poor enough that even with the dreadful Maryland performance, the game stayed slightly close for much of the game. E8 here we come. Go Aztecs! |

IMO only a loser would buy one at this time as it is akin to thinking we are done. I do not think we are done. I watched Alabama game. They looked beatable. Maryland missed at least 9 layups. They also shot real poor. Yet Alabama was playing poor enough that even with the dreadful Maryland performance, the game stayed slightly close for much of the game. E8 here we come. Go Aztecs! It was so frustrating watching Maryland miss so many easy layups when Alabama was struggling on offense. I knew it was a matter of time before Alabama would hit their stride and start pulling away. They are definitely beatable and I trust in our coaching staff to get our guys prepared to get that W and make history |

Furman postgame - complimentary of Aztecs. "San Diego State is not a mid major team. They can advance as far as they want." No mystery why they had such a successful year. Absolute class act coach and players. That coach is going to have a lot of success in his career I agree, super impressed with the class of their coach and players. I hope they have continued success. |

Very impressive win, I thought this is an Aztec team that could lose in the first round or go all the way--I like how they're playing right now--hair-on-fire defense & move the ball, find the right man on offense. If I could pick an MVP guy right now Arop would be the one--he's their Swiss army knife.

My first thought when I saw the S16 shirt for sale was very similar to yours, without the loser part. I can't see buying such a shirt until at least the final 4. And I probably would not buy it until I new the results of the next couple of games. Although I do understand some wanting a souvenir of every step of the way. |
