the VWU guys have put their names in the Portal but have reserved the right to come back IF they choose to waiting to hear who is hired as the HC Backup Center/Power Forward James Okonkwo 6'8" 230 post is in the portal. Currently, Sophomore to Junior year, 3 more seasons left. Per 40/minutes: 9 Points, 12 Rebounds & 3 Blocks per game 56 FG% + 63 FT%.

Closing the loop on two post players: 6'11" 225lbs. Jordan Brown to Memphis from Nevada, Arizona + Louisiana & 6'9" 230lbs. Tre Mitchell to Kentucky from West Virginia. The rich get richer. And with almost 1,800 DI MBB in the portal, transfers are still going strong.

And with almost 1,800 DI MBB in the portal, transfers are still going strong. Memphis & Kentucky are both desperate for players. That gives Kentucky a whopping 4 players with any D1 experience with just 2 who have started a game (Reeves/Mitchell). Brown is now the only player Memphis has over 6'8. The prospect of playing, and playing a HUGE role on a team is a major motivator in the portal. Both guys are immediate starters, projected to be 30+ minute a game guys with 20% usage or higher.

ESPN does a good job of summarizing the comings and goings with most of the teams (7), and it's easy to see the impact of the losses. Many of the transfers listed above, such as 4 of our 5, are walk-ons & have zero impact. NM, Utah St & Wyoming lost primarily impact transfers. Utah St just got hammered, given the coaching change, and while UNLV did well in the portal & on the recruiting trail they took a massive hit between graduation & the portal as well. Basically a wash. Wyoming is practically starting from scratch. It's going to be an interesting year. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/36282597/ncaa-division-men-college-basketball-2023-24-rosters-departures-changes

So Gundo when is your favorite part of the calendar year - Transfer Portal - HS recruiting time - AAU time - Offer to players - Regular seasons Never thought of it, but the off-season is always interesting. More random topics to connect with. Hoping that the Aztecs improve year-on-year, through the portal and HS recruitment. Plus digging into other MWC schools to track their futures. I am crossing my fingers that we are offered PAC 12 invite, which opens much more exploration. The pundits are still 50/50 on the invite, who knows what's going on in the PAC 12 Presidents chambers, the TV networks (linear), streamers (Apple/Amazon), and of course the ADs? Even with the July 17th MWC Presidents meeting pending; MWC/PAC or other option is still unknown. There is no real inside track out there. There are dozens and dozens of podcasts, mostly bull$#!+, mostly one-sided, mostly opinions and very limited facts. I still think we're a PAC 12 school in 2024, but it wont come fast enough.

If it hasn't been stated definitively on here yet, Alger is returning to SDSU. Cool, good news for the team overall. Any word on Jared Barnett? I think he's the last outstanding walk-on question with news of the Broughton twins finding a new home, I think someone had mentioned at one point he was in the portal too.

Is Cam Lawin someone capable of morphing into a John Sharper or is he just a bigger Jared Barnett? He made an All-City team in Chicago and an All-State one in Illinois so there's that. They weren't 1st team selections but Chicago and Illinois have a lot of good BB players. Any of you guys who sometimes see practice have any feedback on his red-shirt game last year?
