The 6'3", 185lb guard, four-star recruit by both 247 Sports and Rivals out of JSerra Catholic School in California, played his first college season at Utah in 2020-21. They have an interesting roster. 3 former P12 players, but definitely an interesting mix. May take them a while to get going, but if they can even get to .500 in conference that'd be a win for them, given they lost practically their entire roster.

Nevada signed 7'0" 4-star Jazz Gardner, he is an HS senior. Gardner a 4-star 7' footer is a late HS sign, which fills the post position left vacant by transfers Will Baker (LSU) and Warren Washington (Texas Tech).

Nevada must have massive NIL $. "...The 7-foot big man out of Stevenson Ranch (Calif.) West Ranch chose the Wolfpack over a final group of Florida State, San Francisco, Ole Miss, and Oregon. Additionally, he received offers from Texas Tech, USC, Kansas, Houston, Illinois, and others.
Gardner ranks as the No. 130 overall player in the 2023 On3 Industry Rankings" per On3.com
Maybe a little casino and resort NIL money?

I doubt the 130th ranked player would bring in a ton of NIL money

I doubt the 130th ranked player would bring in a ton of NIL money Definitely. Plus, the 4 schools he visited were Oregon (have Dante/Bittle), Texas Tech (just added Jackson earlier this week) & most recently Georgia Tech, which isn't a recruiting monster & is a long ways from home. Playing where hid dad just happened to get a HC gig makes sense, and I think it's more than a coincidence that he dad got the gig.

As you know by now, the WVU players have about 25 more days to go back into the portal (30 day window). Without that, they're not going anywhere. All are still committed to WVU & most likely will remain so until after a new coach is named. If it's Kennedy I doubt any of them leave. I also doubt any center who played 30+ minutes a game last year will have any interest in coming to SDSU. They're not getting it here.

I think Heide RS's, and I doubt they bring in anyone who would be in his class or the year above him. My guess is nobody or a grad transfer like Tomaic who hasn't entered the portal, yet. Ideally an emergency player in case Shay has trouble transitioning to regular minutes.

I only bring it up because he said it to me directly and it wasn't some roomer, backhand comment, or anything else. I really doubt we get another transfer, but he did say they are still looking at a couple of players. Take it for what it is.

Maybe they are looking at super under the radar guys.

would agree that Dutcher and the staff continue to see if there players still interested in SDSU - but the key is the recruit or transfer has to have some interest in SDSU and not every transfer wants to come play at SDSU with its emphasis on defense - in addition as mentioned to some players NIL is quite important

I really doubt we get another transfer, but he did say they are still looking at a couple of players. Take it for what it is. I keep coming back to Muoka & Ighoefe. Both fit the profile of what Dutch has said he's looking for - senior w/ length. Neither played big minutes last year, both are fly swatters, and both are 5th year players. However, both are 2-time transfers who might need to graduate first (or get a waiver) before being officially available. Both could be finishing up classes? Muoka's been linked at a few places and he played more minutes later in the season for them, so he may be less realistic. But Ighoefe has been radio silent as far as I can tell. Assuming he's healthy again. Dandridge is the other guy who fits the mold, although not a fly swatter. Just big. But as a 1st time transfer he could have committed at any time but hasn't. Not sure where his recruiting process stands? A few other random names who tend to fit the "Tomiac-type" bill: - John Ojiako, George Mason (6'10, 245, 5th year - 2 time transfer originally from Va-Tech) - Sam Freeman, Pacific (6'10, 240, 5th year - 2 time transfer originally from Minnesota) Neither are game changers, just depth & experience. Plus, the staff is always aware of guys who are thinking of entering the portal before they do. Intermediaries typically reach out with a "would you be interested", either directly to them or they hear about it via word of mouth. They could be keeping an eye out for them to enter. We have bodies behind Ledee in Shay, Heide & Saunders, so I'd think we'd need more than just a body. We'd need experience & more length than what Saunders would provide, or even Heide.

This isn't relevant to SDSU, but damn W Virginia just took a massive blow, basically losing their starting backcourt. I would have thought the WVU bunch would have at least waited until WVU hired their replacement. They still had 3 more weeks.
