4D chess. If you had any doubt they'll try to extend Soto or pursue Ohtani, that's erased. IF Soto is extended, the Padres will not get Ohtani.

Padres lose to the Cubs tonight.
Pretty easy to do when the team gets NO HITS!!
Actually, that's pretty funny.

Ryan, is Pomeranz gonna start the season active? 50/50 at this point. He's thrown three or four bullpens at this point, but they'll bring him on slowly. I think it's going to be really close.

In 10 years, $30M/year will seem cheap…

2 homers for Odor today. We could use his punch off the bench, etc....

Still wouldn't work. Unless you plan on locking him up in between games there is NO WAY to stop him from doing it again. Time bomb. Already ticking. No way to defuse it. Under the right/wrong circumstances it WILL happen again. You can't treat him like a child or a prisoner, and given that freedom he is a huge risk to re-offend. Why would you even think about taking that risk and destroying your franchise? It would be stupid. Beyond stupid. Well, he's an ace level pitcher that you could likely get at a bargain. I would rather have him pitch for us then pitch for the Phillies, Braves, or Mets. I don't think it would destroy our franchise? Has he destroyed LA's franchise? Or Cincinnati's? But I do understand the tendency to avoid him like the plague. Only problem with that logic is that if one of the other NL contenders scoops him up, that just makes for a harder path to the pennant. Trevor Bauer signs with the Yokohama DeNA Baystars of the NPB. Kudos to every MLB franchise who passed on the headache.

He’s good, but not great. Teams aren’t going to take the risk of ruining the clubhouse dynamic. He’s too much of a sociopath.

Cronenworth and Kim have had a very good Spring Training Camp. Hopefully it continues and into the regular season.

With the new pick off move rule, I think the Padres catchers will be easy to run on this year, especially without Alfaro.

I hate to see Soto exit with an oblique injury. I know it’s likely precautionary but if you follow baseball you know these injuries can be tricky and linger.
Ugh! Hope he’s fine.
