You're anti-science. What do you expect? Carbon dating isn't perfect, but it is absolutely accepted science. It is based in known fact. If you don't believe in that, or that humans are the product of evolution, then you're too brainwashed to have a meaningful discussion on this topic. You believe that everything in the Bible is 100% accurate. That's a joke - there are contradictions and items plagiarized from prior works all throughout the Bible. It's one of the least reliable books ever presented as a historic document. It's filled with superstitious, supernatural nonsense. I mean, seriously, so much of the Bible is absolutely, ridiculously absurd that it's amazing that anyone could believe in it in the 21st Century. Mind boggling. It's like Muslims believing in geting their 98 virgins in heaven when they die. It's so obviously made up from wishful thinking that anyone with any critical thinking skills can't take it the least bit seriously.

What an incredibly lopsided stat. You're a lot like the other atheists who only pick and choose what they believe. You're a guy who says that issues MUST have cold hard facts behind it, yet you'll accept carbon dating that is only a theory. Perfect. Not shocked.

There is more thought and actual science put into carbon dating than there is in proving the existence of an all knowing, all seeing, "God," who created the universe in 6 days. Come on. You do see how that's just not logical. It's not believable if you believe in science and logic. FYI - when they've carbon dated things from recent history, they absolutely nail the dating. They can get it right within a decade or two for stuff that came from the last couple thousand years. So carbon dating has been verified to be correct both in theory and in practice. It's not like a clock, but it's great to get close dating.

Statistically, it's pretty much impossible for their NOT to be other intelligent life out there. There are billions of stars in this galaxy alone, and there are billions of galaxies. So even if only .001% of those solar systems have planets with intelligent life that would mean millions of planets with intelligent life. However, the distance between these planets makes it almost impossible to find them. Even if they had radio 10,000 years ago it's possible that our nearest neighbor wouldn't have those signals get to us for thousands of years. Or we could find them tomorrow. But the distance makes finding them incredibly difficult.

Does that make it any easier to believe that he can be real? I think I know your answer, but I don't know if you've ever looked at it that way. Angels are also celestial beings, as well.

No. No being is omniscient and all powerful. No being is greater than the universe and the laws of physics. No being in existence pre-dates the origin of the universe. And the universe is BILLIONS of years old. The laws of physics tell us that - the stars could not have moved the distances they moved, collided, and created the galaxies that we can see in less time than that. Carbon dating tells us that the universe is billions of years old, corroborating the data and calculations of scientists who determined the billions of years that it took for the universe to take it's current shape. The only thing saying that there is a God is the Bible, and it's got sections that were plagiarized from earlier works, and the rest is all hearsay (well, truthfully, I'm sure a lot of it was just made up, but I'm sure some people actually bought into the absurdities because of the superstitious nature of life back then and an inability to explain the universe and the world around them). We know better now. We've advanced to the point where we're starting to figure it all out, and there was no God required for any of it.

It seems as though you and I are just repeating ourselves now and going nowhere with this, so that's typically a clue to end the debate. You're going to choose what you are going to put your faith in, and I as well. So be it. Thanks for engaging.

Quite a lot of individuals and a very large percentage of Americans.

I have never met a Christian that believes the Bible is literal and 100% factually accurate (even the Pastors I have known, and I come from a Christian family). Not one Christian I know believes the world is only 6,000 years old since science has proven otherwise. You can still choose to believe that God started the process, and you can believe that God created evolution with Humanity as his endgame, but to deny science is belief from the dark ages.

I've worked with quite a few devout Catholics over the years..and none (zero) beleive in a young Earth as you describe. Have met almost zero "born agains" in the sciences.

6,000 years old. Yes, men and dinosaurs roamed the earth together. Simply false. Sorry, in a hurry. Look at it this way. Man is omnivorous and has exploited plants and animals for their entire existence. There are endless examples of archeological sites with both human and extinct Pleistocene mammals, pollen etc. evidence. To be conservative let's say sites 100,000 years until 10,000 years ago. An example might be hand prints and rock art depicting extinct mammals in caves in Europe. I've been in a few. There are zero... archeological sites that show human evidence and dinosaurs together. There are zero geologic formations, rock art,, or preserved footprints, that show man and dinosaur together. If man and dinosaur occurred at the same time, man would have eaten at least one? The man / dinosaur theory is right out of places like the wacky "Creationist Museum" in Lakeside!

That's a shame that there's Pastors out there preaching, but don't take the Bible literally. Contradictorily, I have NEVER met a true Christian who does not take the Bible literally, except for the metaphors that Jesus uses in the Bible. Maybe what these Christians that you're referring to are talking about are the metaphors that Jesus uses. I bet it's that. For example, when Jesus says it's better to pluck out your sinful eye than to go to Hell, that's not literal. That must be the literal part(s) the Christians you encountered are referring to if they're true Christians. Also, science has not PROVEN that the earth is more than 6000 years old. By you saying it over and over, does not make it true.

6,000 years old. Yes, men and dinosaurs roamed the earth together. Simply false. Jesus talked about the behemoths that roamed the earth, that is so powerful that only God could destroy them. There's other passages that talks about large creatures (dinosaurs) in the Bible.
