I’m the article it says the new Pac 12 media deal won’t be finalized until the end of the summer which most likely means you’ll have to wait until the fall. What about our skyrocketing exit fee that takes effect after June 30th? I'm pretty sure it'll be pro-rated, but that's a big kick in our ass as we exit the door. We won't be in the MWC regardless in 2024 so we are not going to do anything to incur the penalty and give more money to the MWC. Our initial exit fee will be due in full on June 30th. Maybe the MWC will put that to good use and use it to keep CSU and Air Force (perhaps Boise) from jumping to the B12.

Did anyone catch Wilner on KSL (SLC Utah TV & Radio) on Tuesday 4/25? Good update, but not a lot to speak about. Years ago, Media Rights deals were not in the news or social media, but now you have Twitter, Bloggers, Podcasters, and the rest of us spreading misinformation and rumors every 20 minutes. Some are truthful, most not, as the schools are not talking. There is an effort from "Big XII country" to disrupt the PAC 12, pushing expansion, and trying to lower PAC 12 valuation. Yormack and his PR/Talent agency Endeavor have created a false narrative to make the Big XII $31.6MM Deal look better. Another false narrative is that a Streaming Service will be the lead media channel for the PAC 12, however, many believe ESPN will carry a prime package, and it makes sense for Amazon to promote PAC 12 football in their NFL Thursday night games. Would Apple & Amazon pick-up games and split streaming, again that is unlikely sense they compete against one another for ad dollars and subscribers. Apple appears to be the leader for tonnage, ESPN/ABC for Prime games, plus ESPN+ streaming. The nuance is that 10% +/- of the Big XII deal, is acceptable to PAC 12 Presidents/ADs. The media world is changing, TV viewing and streaming consumption are drastically different. Streaming is far more important and the #1-way viewers get TV content, but not live sports. So shorter Grant of Rights Deals are expected in the 5–7-year range, and the PAC 12 is trying to land three planes at once.
1. Get the Media Deal done = Money & Revenue (+/- 10%) 2. Grant of Rights = Time-based Agreement (shorter window) 3. Expansion = Geographical Footprint (who is in and who is out), DMAs/markets, and inventory. This takes a long time, but it would be the last piece.
Do not expect Expansion First. It is not going to happen that way! With the SDSU National Title run, the PAC 12 would look foolish NOT to invite the Aztecs, since they are the hottest team in So Cal and really on the national stage.

The P12 deal, for SDSU, is already negotiated… State is happy with it. And they are happy with the Big12 deal if the PAC is not able to execute or come up with adequate valuation. The market has moved against the PAC. The B12 has enough to entice us to leave the MWC but the PAC adds so much more value to the school. Personally, I don't see the PAC commanding less than the B12 at all. They may not get the $40-45M Klavikoff initially was looking for but they aren't getting the $22M-25M the B12 propagandists are talking about.

J.D. has shown he’s a lot of things, but risk taker isn’t one of them. #3 it is, and I suspect this pronouncement clears the way for formal notice of aloha to the MWC. He likely could have waltzed into the AD job at Mississippi St. in the SEC for a big raise and yet he stayed here. So, he either knows something, hates humidity with a passion, or is just, plain stoopid. Personally, I'd bet on "knowing something." If he is right, the combination of getting SDSU West and Snapdragon built and our ascension to the PAC would be bust-worthy. If we end up in the B12 then maybe just plaque worthy. Lol @ plaque ready. I’m not saying that J.D. is on the fast train to sainthood, that may depend on how the football program grows, and canopies, but all in all I believe there’s one thing everyone here can agree on…it’s been a pretty great couple of years, and only looks to get even better.

With the SDSU National Title run, the PAC 12 would look foolish NOT to invite the Aztecs, since they are the hottest team in So Cal and really on the national stage. To me, the B12 is desperate and they even hired the PR firm "Endeavor" to try to sabotage the PAC deal because they are desperate. Do you see Yormark out there making big public statements about the imminent demise of the PAC? Nope. Others are doing that on his behalf so he can play the "good cop." If the B12 doesn't get PAC school in this round it bodes ill for them come 2030. Not sure if there is still a $100M for schools to leave the conference at that point and if Cinci, YBY, Houston and UCF signed on to that they are complete idiots. Yormark knew the PAC was number 3 in the pecking order which is why he pushed for an extension deal with a few different chess pieces. He got his deal, but did not get the best price he could have. If the B12 doesn't add any PAC schools or gets SDSU then they likely don't expand. They can get CSU, Memphis, Air Force, Boise St. or Fresno St. anytime they want. None of those schools are going anywhere and adding them to the B12 would be dilutive to their current contract without gaining a foothold in the West. If they felt and absolute need to add a couple of schools I would put CSU and Memphis at the top of the list.

Or it's a combination of 2,3 and 4. 4 being a warning shot to the PAC that we could jump to another league if this drags out or they try and ridiculously cut our share. The P12 deal, for SDSU, is already negotiated… State is happy with it. Does this mean the presidents/chancellors voted us in?

Give Hoke two more seasons. He has let Lindley, with little track record, to make some big decisions on offense. That is a very bold move but I like it. I am hoping that Lindley shines and we can keep him here long enough to become the HC. But, if Boise Aztec is right about the PAC deal how about him for sainthood?

That is binding and would come with penalties if one party, that being the PAC, did not perform. I will also give kudos to de la Torre who evidently made a great case for SDSU academics in front of the PAC presidents.

there are some that may not have liked De La Torre but it sure seems that she has done a good job with a wide variety of people representing SDSU
As you correctly pointed out- making a solid presentation to the PAC Presidents -( who are the people who cast the Votes) is quite important
Key of course is getting the deals Officially- Done and in Writing with all the details not implied

IF true, Kalashnikov should be fired. He had a $32m offer with mostly linear tv at the very beginning of the negotiations and turned it down. Regarding the Monty Show, I’ve listened to them a bit since we began following the P12 media deal and they’re not anti-PAC, but they do believe (as most do) that the PAC has been poorly run. They give more coverage to UU than BYU, but cover a lot of sports, both pro and college. As far as the accuracy of info like they popped yesterday - that UofA, ASU, CU and Washington are the four schools who won’t accept an all streaming deal - I have no idea, but hopefully after all this is over we will find out. Do you have a link to where he turned down and offer for $32M? And, please tell me a reason why whomever offered that wouldn't do the same now? It was widely reported awhile back: “The PAC-12 could turn back to ESPN/ABC, but the deal that was once on the table — the same $31 million per year per team that the Big 12 got — is no longer there. If the Pac-12 returns to ESPN, it will likely mean it is willing to take less money in exchange for exposure. At this point, a deal with ESPN is not close,” the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand reported Monday morning.“

I sign LOIs for retail space which leads to lease agreements. Sometimes those LOIs have language about “not performing” for example I decide not to sign the lease and or the company decides to not lease to me… there may be penalties…
