First O.T. regular College rules. Second O.T. Have to go for two on a T.D. Third O.T. JUST two point conversions... This is a result of the SEC game a couple of years ago that went seven OTs. Trying to reduce wear and tear on young bodies. I don't like the third OT rule. Seems awfully random. I started likeing the third OT rule better right after the replay ruling last night.

Can you imagine (especially the old timers) Coryell or Gilbert trying to run out the clock starting in the third quarter? As the local paper at the time said once, "The night sky was raining footballs." score points Hoke, don't play not to lose. you almost did.

Just ask North Dakota State, Southern Mississippi or New Mexico State in the record setting QB/Receiver game.
Anyone who has to ask about those games needs to bone up on their Aztec Football history.

Was Bell dingy when he fumbled? It seems like Thee AZTECS didn't comprehend that the ball was out and live.

Nice to win the game. However, it shouldn't have gone to OT. Just my opinion, of course. On an aside, we really need an QB that can do more than hand off. Pair that with this defense and we are a top 20 team. Just sayin'. We are probably a top 15 team, maybe even better. Our D is that good. Our D is very good, and also rather unique. But, offensively we are not that good right now. QB play is a big part of that and I understand we were with our #2 QB yesterday. I am going to give Hoke some time to develop this team the way he wants. I'm really excited for our freshman, Haskell, as he has the size and, athleticism to be one hell of a player.

Our defense was good for about 3 Q's but near the end of the third and definitely the fourth Q - the guys were gassed . There was little pass rush . The rules favor the offense and especially Passing game . We play a 3-3-5 and after a while the other team has made their revisions/ adjustments so we got shredded .
We were playing with younger DB's so when the pass rush was negated we were picked apart . Does show how important it is to have a decent passing Game does allow a team down by 14 to quickly get back in the game .. We dominated for most of 3 Q's then just got worn down . We did lose a very good safety for targeting in the second Q and a DB late in the game . In addition got a bad call on the Pass Interference play that did allow them better opportunities to score . The fumble also hurt turning over the ball on our own 35 .
We had 2 decent scoring drives- although one was set up on an INT so had short field . Also need to realize that teams will continue to load the box and make our QB beat them . As we play better offensive teams - we are going to need a decent passing game to beat those quality teams with a solid passing attack .
Also got a little sketchy with Matt missing 2 FG's

Aztecs are so physical, even our kicker/punter lays wood on kick returners! Although, I'd rather him make 2 FGs that were easily within his capabilities and not ever tackle Ha!!! No doubt. He was doing some smack talking as well!!!

It's not Heck. It's Hoke. Hoke is the CEO. Heck is the VP of offense. You think a VP can do things without the CEO's okay? You see glimpses like when we're not leading, of a creative offense. Then we get a lead and all Hoke wants to do is play Martyball. stoner all your posts nailed it. Hoke can't get conservative. We can only hope he learned his lesson. Yup. 3 straight passes during ot. He probably hasn't. Martyball seems like a genetic condition 😆

The whistle blew and everybody stopped but the Utah guy Wait if the zebra blew the whistle the play is over and the ball is dead. WTH, was there no review or challenge by Brady?? This is interesting because the same situation resulted in Boise losing a TD on a scoop-six late against Okie State. Broncos got robbed to lessen an otherwise stellar day for the MW. The whistle blew during Boise's return which went to the end zone. They reviewed it and gave Boise the ball, but not the TD, and they ended up getting a field goal try blocked. On our play, it was a terrible piece of luck that the ball came down on the blocker's leg as Bell was falling. I was yelling at the TV for us to snap the next play quickly because I knew a review was coming. That's something an experienced QB should be aware of. Then, of course, the penalty happened and we were screwed.

Take a knee. You've got to be kidding me. How about a 15 yard pass with a hook and ladder to get into FG range. “lateral”

The Aztec fumble was reviewed . Correctly ruled a fumble- as the ball was fumbled off the leg of our TE Rudolph who was blocking for Bell . Bell and others need to go after any ball that is loose on the field - especially Bell . It did take away momentum we had going and would like to see Bell more aware of the situation - wrap two hands on the ball in a crowd - also realize when you get stood up by the defense they are going to make every effort to strip the ball - in the NMSU game we were inside the red zone when he fumbled . He is a great runner but now has 2 fumbles lost in 3 games .
