terrific 6+ innings from Snell. a month or so ago, I wondered why the Pads didn't send him down. amazing change with One exception. He has to control his emotions because he loses his focus and things go bad. Tonight in the 7th he gave up a walk with a close pitch. You could see the change in his deamenior. he lost the focus he had. I commented that the angels would score. I think Mud commented that he had to let the walk go. Snell didn't and the game got away. But also once again, the Pad offense stunk and Snell had no support. maybe next year. And Hosmer wasn’t at first to blame.

Yeah you are right - There were multiple pitches in that at bat that were in the strike zone, that were called balls.

And...the Padres are 1-3 in those last 4 Snell starts.

A coincidence, perhaps? Since the Padres fired Rothschild, the starting staff seems to have gotten more effective (except for Darvish).
Hitting? Dreadful. The last 28 days (23 games), the Padres are hitting .207. Not surprisingly, the Padres are 7-16 in those last 23 games.

Not what I'm here for. Sorry. There are two insanely long threads that have been hijacked by Hosmer talk already.

Well, maybe I missed it but I have yet to see you acknowledge the fact that I was right when I said they were trying Tatis in the outfield. As I recall your comment was “sez who”

I addressed this at least twice. You were right. It was talked about last year as well, but they held off. I was skeptical then and still am now. How would you still be skeptical. He’s out there playing I'm guessing Ryan is referring to the fact that Jr. is scuffling at the plate (under .200) since the move to the outfield, not to mention it's not like he's been saving a bunch of runs by making spectacular plays in the alleys, etc. Bottom line is our most productive lineup was when Jr. was at SS. The whole reason for the move to the OF was to keep Jr. healthy for the final playoff run, but at this point they're headed towards not make the playoffs at all - so what's the purpose?

Hopefully Hosmer will be moved in the offseason.
Ryan, is there any way that we can move Hosmer without giving up one of our top 4 prospects?

Hopefully Hosmer will be moved in the offseason. Ryan, is there any way that we can move Hosmer without giving up one of our top 4 prospects? Highly doubt it. I'd just cut him, to be honest. It's one thing to justify a trade at the deadline to try and improve the club. The offseason is a different animal. He's owed 59 million the next four years and receives 10/5 protection rights after next season, so time isn't on their side.
