Little doubt that the Aztecs lost the most in offense from all the other MW teams Matt , Jordan , T- Go . Believe they have added the best single transfer in Bradley . How much they gained from the other transfers we will see and hopefully hear when Summer School is under way . Also quite important is to see the development of the returning young guys :Che, KD , Keshad , Lamont , plus the older guys Trey( does provide stability in the back court , Nathan, Joshua even status of AG .... This summer into fall we will have the same staff back and time to work with the guys . Do hope they get most of the guys there in the summer to start the transition .
Nevada has numerous guys back - especially with a very strong back court . In addition they have added some transfers to make them even better . So see them at or near the top of the conference . They have had some guys leave and added on fairly recently . Alford is a strong recruiter and can coach
CSU another team that returns their talented players and have added some additional pieces to make them a solid team also near the top of the conference
BSU lost their best scoring player but did get back most of their other players
USU lost their coach and some of their best players including Q - major player on both offense and defense . Did some "trading of players" with Utah , plus as mentioned not easy to have a new coach come in and get it going right away
Fresno also added some quality transfers
Lobos replaced their coach and brought in Pit Jr who has turned over the roster with his own new quality transfers . Can he get them to work together - major question
UNLV - also lost their coach and some good players - brought in' Krueg Jr . " who has been able to bring in some transfers from his dad's old conference B12 .
Cowboys had a lot coming back but did lose a major player
San Jose with "New"Coach Mills is adding some transfers
So as usual for Non P6 schools we get a good read of the teams after they have completed their OOC

The MW has brought in a ton of new talent, the conference will be very competitive next season. My crystal ball sez.........
1). Colorado St——— Loaded with talent, aggressive offensive system installed by HC. Roddy, POY.
2). SDSU———Nice job on the reload. Depth should play well at altitude and wear down opponents at home. Bradley is a recruiting coup.
3). Boise St———Coach Rice is still looking for a breakthrough season. The system is in place to make that happen.
4). Nevada———Another team capable of a breakthrough season. The league’s best backcourt will be tough to stop.
5). Fresno St———Coach Hutson has been building momentum, the Bulldogs added some talented big men to their team
6). Wyoming———Recent recruiting classes should pay some dividends this year.
7). UNLV———The yearly exodus of talent is disquieting. The Rebs need a core of guys to stick around before they can be taken seriously.
8). San Jose St———Sparty has been building and stumbling for a while now. Maybe the new HC Miles can pump some life into this perennial doormat.
9). Utah St———Ah well, it was a nice 3 year run Aggies. New coach, new players...good luck.
10). New Mexico———It will be interesting to see if the Pitino magic can overcome the run of tough breaks NM has had to go through these past 3 years.
11). Air Force———There’s no questioning this team’s character, maybe Coach Scott can recapture some of the old success of the mid 2000’s.

BTW did we ever acknowledge SD local, Robby Robinson, transferred again, SDCC > Nevada > New Orleans. Basically Alford dropped him off at the train station.

Coach Hut at Fresno got better; but only if Baker can stay healthy, they still will start 4 guys 6'4 and under (ranked to high.) Wyoming lost the MWC Freshman of the Year, Marcus Williams, and I don't see the in coming class as a rocket booster. You're way too optimistic. UNLV got better as did UNM, looking at the metrics on players lost and incoming players those two schools have had a massive upgrade! SJSU upgraded coaching and added some high level transfers that are unproven in NCAA D1 minutes. The league rankings should improve as the bottom half gets better.

Baker & Holland on FSU are 6'5, but yes they'll be short defensively, although Robinson can erase a lot of mistakes. Offensively they'll stretch the floor well though, with or without Baker. They're returning all 5 starters as it is. Wyoming's FR from last year - Ike & DuSell - are outstanding players who will only get better. Maldonado returns, as does Thompson. They have good size, and should be very good. Maldonado's assist rate was near that of Williams, so would expect a "point forward" situation surrounded by some good shooters & a very good post player. New Mex is as short as FSU - all their best players are 6'1 to 6'6; only Manuel, who's a bit player, is tall (6'10). All others over 6'6 are bench guys. They'll be greatly improved, but more like 200's-240's than 290's. UNLV also has no size - their top 5 players are all 6'2 to 6'6, with only Hamm at 6'9 expected to play 15+ minutes. They're improved, but again we're talking 100's to 130's vs. 170's.

Can buy most of your rankings, but I think you're greatly underselling Utah St. I think they're more likely to finish 3rd or 4th than 9th, although I expect them to actually be around 5th, 6th or 7th. Bean & Brock Miller are back for what seems like they're 9th seasons, and Rylan Jones is a stud PG, with Ashworth a terrific shooter. As with some teams, the only question is their size, with Bairstow at 6'8 (& Bean 6'7) being the only trusted players over 6'5. We'll just have to see how Dorias does, with Zapala backing him up, or whether they add 1 more?

Would agree that USU is more likely to be a middle of the pack team in the MW . Losing their HC and The Mighty Q - who was very valuable in scoring , top defender , rebounder , assists and a strong physical player down low and that could also hit shots from outside if needed . He also had experience playing for the Portugal National team . So major area to replace . As Dutcher has also commented that in addition to having scorers you need strength down low - especially when you play some of the P6 schools - so the Aztecs added transfers in that area. Yes they did get some transfers to add to their experienced players and lost some to Utah in the "trade/ exchange " of players .
Think Nevada had a good player down low last year and has added a couple of better transfers at the 5 and the 4 - so will not miss Robby Robinson . In addition they had one of the best back courts in the MW last season so many see them at or close to the top of the MW this up coming seasons . looking to see who Alford sets up for their OOC .
Most of us watch as UNLV and the Lobos add numerous transfers BUT can their New coaches get them to play together as a unit . UNLV could have some challenging teams in their T - Michigan and Arizona . Not sure who the Lobos play ?
CSU has a lot of quality players back with their quality coach ( who if they do well is likely to be a Hot Coach for P6 schools to look at the following season) . Key for many MW teams will be who do they have to match up against Roddy ? Will be interesting to see how CSU does in their OOC ? They could have a decent T where they play Bradley , Creighton and then possibly Colorado

True, but USU has just as much if not more consistency than either UNLV or SJSU. All 3 have new coaches, whereas USU returns 2 starters + 2 rotation players; SJSU returns 2 starters + 1 would be starter who only played in 5 games total (albeit off a bad team); and UNLV returns 1 starter + 1 2020 starter who missed last year. Little consistency across the board. In theory, New Mex probably has the most consistency among your bottom 5. Just saying... Should be an interesting year in a much improved conference overall!

PS. I spaced and forgot USU's new HC is bringing 2 starters from UMBC with him, including a 6'10 dude who went for 13, 10 & 3 against a pretty good Georgetown team.

Ex-UNLV Wing Nick Blake to University of the Pacific. Big win for Damon Stoudamire's team. Blake an ESPN 4-star player, played one season for the Rebs. UoP signed MW 6th man POY Alphonso Anderson from Utah St, Greg Outlaw (CCSS) and incoming Compton Magic Freshman Jaden Byers. They are pretty solid going onto 2020-21.

Trey Wade who transferred from Wichita State to Nevada (but never attended) just signed with Arkansas and the Muss Buss. The 6'6" wing was the second loss to Alford. The first Addison Patterson from Oregon appeared in 28 games, averaging 4.6 PPG. Officially joined the Wolf Pack in January 2020. Neither played a minute of ball in the MWC.

As mentioned a while back, trading Wade & Patterson for Blackshear & Bramah wasn't an upgrade. They took a slight step backwards with that move IMO. That said, they're going to recruit over Wade at Arkansas IMO so we may not have seen his last move.

I think he got the tiers right, and you can make an argument for any order within each tier. Think it's a pretty good overview overall.

One thing that's constant, is writers are loving Colorado State. I think it was pretty spot on. Not sure what should be changed as I would have CSU #1 at this point. You could make an argument to flip flop Nevada and State but pretty well done. Would you change any of the order?
