Vance Jackson back in the portal. Once upon a time, one of the top Aztec recruits in 2015/16. His College career has sort of fizzled out. Looking for one more year, one more school, still chasing the dream. www.wholehogsports.com/news/2021/apr/15/2020-21-season-review-vance-jackson/2016/17 UConn 8.1 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 40.9% FG, 39.7% 3FG 2017/18 UNM RS 2016/17 UNM 13.1 PPG, 7.0 RPG, 40.5% FG, 33.1% 3FG 2016/17 UNM 11.1 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 41.4% FG, 34.2% 3FG 2016/17 ARK 3.8 PPG, 2.0 RPG, 35.8% FG, 35.4% 3FG www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4066442/vance-jackson

I believe SDSU went hard again after Jackson when transferred from UConn. When I saw Jackson at NM, he seemed a little out of shape, a little lazy, and didn't care much about defense, although in fairness he was on two very bad teams. His numbers at NM are actually better than I thought they were. Last year he was outclassed on a very good Arkansas team - as a fifth-year senior he only started three games and averaged 11 minutes. He seems like a good kid with no past troubles. He will land a starting role somewhere.

think it may have already been reported that Nevada has added two top HS players Nick Davidson 6'8 forward from Mater Dei ( Orange County ) and Jalen Weaver a combo guard from the state of Colorado

They added Blackshear, but now have lost Wade & Patterson so they've taken a big step backwards this week. They'll probably make a major push for Bramah or someone similar, because right now they're thin. Blackshear is a decent, but not really that good and IMO is just a 6th or 7th man for them. Coleman's just as good if not better. Wade and Patterson both had higher ceilings, and their 2 FR recruits aren't anything special. Our D Johnson (& all 3 of our now sophs) were rated higher. The portal should be interesting over the next 35 days!

I wish I was fly on the wall when Steve Alford is talking to recruits. He can recruit but,......? How many of UCLA last years team were his recruits or there when he was there?

Wow. Talk about hopping all over the place when it comes to the level of comp! From the MWC, to the P12, to the Sun Belt! Has to sit a year as well (& I really hope the NCAA sticks to the actual rule), although they could grant waivers to those who's coach was canned (like Miller). Just seems odd.

6'3 185 DII All-Conference, SG Chandler Jacobs will transfer to Colorado State rather than Texas Tech. Played at Dallas Baptist University, averaging 20.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.5 steals while shooting 45% from 3-point range. He was named Lone Star Conference defensive player of the year and academic player of the year. Good news for CSU and the MWC. Probably bridges until Hebb gets more experience and could help with depth, especially defensively. The key is whether he can transition to D1 quickly, especially given the much deeper 3-pt line? 45% in D3 could be 35% in D1 given added distance and added length and speed defensively. CSU is definitely going to be good.

anyone want to make some speculations on the top 4 or 5 in the MW as of today ? My $0.02: 1. SDSU - best offseason of any team 2. CSU - returns starting 5 (but didn't add much) 3. Nevada - losing Wade & Patterson hurts, but blow softened with Bramah. Think their success depends upon how improved Washington is though. 4. Boise - will miss Alston but other 4 should make up for the loss. Kigab using 6th year is huge. 5. Utah St - dropoff won't be as dramatic as some think. Rylan Jones is very good when healthy. Tier 2: 6. Fresno - returns a ton + Baker, but not there yet 7. UNLV - B12 talent but too much turnover. A year away. 8. Wyoming - with Williams top 5, but without they'll still be good. Could rise. 9. New Mex - much improved but a year away Tier 3: 10. SJSU - much improved but at least a year away 11. AF - great coach for them but far from ready Can see the MWC being like last year with 4 in the hunt for a NCAAT berth in March. At least 3 get in this time. Newcomer of the year: Bradley MVP; Bradley, Roddy or Sherfield
