Well, he's got a month to get it on there - ending the season on a high note would be good for him and the Padres.

Gore struggled a bit today in his first start for Ft Wayne. 29 pitches in the 1st inning, with 3 runs, 2 hits, 3 walks, 1 K, a passed ball, a sac fly, and a FC among those 29 pitches.
He settled down after that, allowing 1 more hit, 1 more walk, and 4 more K's in the next 4 innings. 82 pitches in all. He did take the loss.
Looking forward to his next start.

Got a chance to watch it - I thought he pitched better than the line indicated. Command was a little erratic early, but thought he settled in and was pretty good after the first. Hopefully the team can work with him in the offseason to make more adjustments to get him fully back on track.

Per the press release that hit my inbox this morning - Gore has been transferred to San Antonio. (I don't know why at this point, and I'm starting to wonder if the organization is handling this properly)

I would rather let him get comfortable before moving him up, take it slow.

Competition is good. With a month left in the season (less, now) maybe they're getting antsy to see him face some decent hitting.
He started the season at AAA, so besides his blister issues and the Padres working his delivery/mechanics in the AZL (to fix the blister issue?), it seems like he could make his way back to El Paso if the Padres want to really zip up the season.

There's no reason to do it though. He's likely going to the Arizona Fall League. I'd rather just see him acclimate somewhere in the meantime and continue to hone in on the right mechanics.

Gore last night for San Antonio: 5+ IP, 97 pitches (55 strikes), 3 H, 2 R (both earned), 5 BB, 8 K.
Had the lead after 5, but the BP gave it up.
Gore did walk the 3 batters he faced in the 6th (the only batters he faced in the inning).

Sounds like he just ran out of gas there in the 6th. 90+ pitches into the game …

He might have been gassed a bit by then, as it was the most pitches he had thrown all season.

This is what happened, basically. Cruised through 5 and then they sent him out for the sixth when most everyone assumed he was done.

Got his first start at home tonight. Four innings, a run, three walks, eight strikeouts. Gave up three hits, two of which were bloop singles.

Good line for Gore, except still too many walks. Won't fly at the Show. Hopefully, he keeps progressing.

FWIW The two other High School kids taken right before #3 Gore in the 2017 draft have both sat out a year because of Tommy John and an ACL injury. The #4 guy was a college player and made it to the Majors for a little bit before needing shoulder surgery.
There were 10 high school kids drafted in the 1st round. Only two of them have played in the Majors, Jo Adell #10, with the Angels and #13 Trevor Rogers with the Marlins.(who made the MLB All-Star team this year) Maybe Gore is on target after all.

Said this forever. The development curve of prep players, specifically prep arms and prep left-handers is a minefield. He's absolutely fine, considering the amount of innings he's thrown. He'll be 23 all of next year.

Pitching in the AFL as we speak against a quality squad that features multiple top 100 prospects. He just hit 98 on the radar gun to get Spencer Torkelson to ground out after forcing Torkelson to whiff on consecutive changeups.
