Remove her from committees. (They won't) and it's embarrassing. I hope not. She is a bag of cats but theories about Jewish Space Lasers causing California forest fires is pure gold. If the media is going to stop doing their job and refuses to ask Biden any question harder than "what is your favorite flavor of ice cream?" then we need something to keep these people employed. Think of her as a jobs program that doesn't cost taxpayers anything. Today the House voted 230-199 (with 11 GOP voting with Dems) to remove her from committee assignments. Actions have consequences.

I heard that by removing her this way, it can set a dangerous precedent. Not sure exactly what that would be, but maybe that's why the other 199 didn't vote for it. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but....

They also want to pretend the insurrection was just a polite tour of the Capitol by a bunch of passionate individuals who love architecture and art. For better or worse, she had to go...and it was clear from people within the party they were going to do nothing, as she has full support from the former president, who they are terrified of. You can't have a person on the Education Committee who thinks school shootings are false flag events. That that statement has to be said and that MTG had to announce she believes 9/11 actually took place (Been to Ground Zero, trust me, it's real] is otherworldly. Way, way too many corrupt enablers in the caucus : Jordan, who covered up the sexual abuse at Ohio State, to Tommy Tuberville who actually said "bad weather has prevented him from reading the news." The other 199 didn't vote for it because they are afraid of enduring the wrath of a guy who still believes he's president.

Yes they did and it is AMAZING!!!!! This is like when Democrat Harry Reid nuked the Judicial Filibuster to get some low level judges confirmed only to have the GOP later use that breaking of precedent to get Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and ACB appointed to the Supreme Court. Until the Democrats did this, the Democrats and Republicans had an agreement that they got to handle the committee assignments of their own party members. Democrats had no say on who Republicans assigned to committees and Republicans had no say on who Democrats assigned to committee. THE DEMOCRATS JUST NUKED THAT PRECEDENT!!!! Now the party in power gets to decide which of their own members are assigned to committee AND which members of the opposing party gets assigned to committee. The GOP did lose a nothing little freshman, but the next time they gain the majority in the House (likely 2022) then any Democrat who has EVER made an anti-Semitic comment will get kicked. Ilhan Omar: gone. Rashida Tlaib: gone. Pretty much any member of the Progressive Caucus: gone. Keep in mind that Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t make her crazy comments as a member of Congress, but in the past before she was elected. She also apologized for, and disavowed the comments. It didn’t matter. The Democrats stripped her committee assignments anyway. Going forward it won’t matter if these old anti-Semitic comments have since been apologized for or disavowed. Have you ever made a comment the party in power doesn’t like? Gone! It is a whole new world!!!!

You guys do realize there is not a job in the private sector you wouldn't be fired from for the comments she made. Except maybe working for Breitbart etc.

Except maybe working for Breitbart etc. You can tell yourself that in 2 years when the Republicans unilaterally strip all committee assignments from all Progressives using the new MTG precedent created here to remind yourself that it was totally worth it. I don't want to hear a single peep about how unfair it is when the GOP does it to the Democrats, or that whatever Dem is being deplatformed is not the same as MTG because it doesn't matter what you think about whomever's past statements but only how the GOP feel about the past statements. These are the new rules of the game and the Democrats just wrote them. Personally I think this is going to bite the Dems in the a$$.

Zero contrition. She was held accountable (because it doesn't matter when the statements were made last week, last month, last year or 2012) because her views are extremely dangerous when enhanced by the party platform. She ran on this platform. Kevin McCarthy issued a statement where he said Greene told him she "no longer wants Pelosi dead." As opposed to a few weeks ago? Give me a break. The tone-deafness is staggering because the OP is delusional. From December of 2020... From January 7th (Less than a month ago) This is NOT the work of a person who has rehabilitated their image or is apologetic (sincerely) in the slightest. These comments were made after the insurrection. Don't fall for the bait.

So Alometer..whats your line in the sand for losing a committee position. I believe that MTG crossed my personal line and I would have removed her from all committee assignments if the decision were handled in-party but it needed to be handled in-party. I would have voted against removing her from committee assignments in the effort spearheaded by the Democrats because it was none of their business. ...or actually getting removed? Losing an election or being convicted in a criminal court and sentenced to prison. remember the old days of the "Moral Majority" what a joke that turned out to be! That was a bit before my time but the Koch brothers ended it. They put a ton of money into supporting more libertarian-leaning candidates to beat out the old Christian-Conservative/Moral Majority. In the Moral Majority days it was the Conservatives who wanted censorship while the Liberals defended the First Amendment. Today it is completely backwards with the Conservatives fighting for the First Amendment while the Progressive Left wants "hate speech" restrictions and cheers for the deplatforming of voices they don't like. I know what your "line" is...getting an abortion. Since you have indicated you are in favor of the death penalty for women that get one Where did you get that from? I’m not in favor of the death penalty for anyone.

In some states that could be the death penalty. Not saying you are for the death penalty, but if followed by the law that could be the result.

No retort, Al? Yeah, even with your spin-lens I couldn't think of one either. Retort for what? In the first one, she's clearly wrong in that Trump didn't win the election by a landslide. Biden won with 302 votes to Trump's 232. As for the second video, I have no idea what they are talking about. I'd need to see the whole thing in context to know what MTG was being thanked for to have any comment on it.

The video being released today that has never been seen before is jarring and chilling. Officer Goodman racing to quite possibly save Mitt Romney's life. The frantic calls over the radio of injured Capitol Police. The rioters in full tactical body armor breaching the windows just one floor below Senate chambers against an overrun police force. The House managers are putting forth an incredibly damning case, but Josh Hawley can't be bothered to pay attention.

That isn't even in the same ballpark as assigning a Senator, who is in the jury pool and gone on record believing Trump should be convicted, to preside over the impeachment proceedings instead of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. This trial is nothing but a show and you know, and I know, and everyone knows Trump will be acquitted. I just wish Trump had hired legal council who could tap dance. *shuffle*shuffle**step* "the Constitution says this isn't legal" *shuffle*shuffle**step* "here is an example of Democratic Congressman Suchandsuch imploring followers to fight" *shuffle*shuffle**step* "a Bernie Sanders supporter shot a Congressman while repeating Bernie's rhetoric" *shuffle*shuffle**step* **jazz hands**

What you're giving a pass to here is actual jurors meeting with the defense counsel during a trial. There isn't even an attempt to feign impartiality in this trial. It doesn't take a lot to see what's happening here. You can't be outraged at Leahy (who is the presiding party when the offender is no longer in office) and then just shrug off what the Republicans are doing, which would get them removed in a criminal proceeding. They should be barred from voting. This is not a "show" trial. Your ignorance and partisan hack feelings aside, there is a lot at stake here. We are setting a massively, massively important precedent here. What the GOP is doing will have long lasting ramifications for truth and justice. It's an embarrassment to this country. The fact that the "jurors" won't even faithfully discharge their duty and consider evidence is a travesty.
