I'm thinking someone whose got the time on their hands should setup a bracket of our favorite 32. Then setup a poll every few days and we can have some sort of March Madness here in December to see who the site chooses as its favorite player of the Fisher era

X Thames was my fave. Watching him dismantle Kansas was a thing of beauty.
I always loved Riche Williams, too!

Impossible to answer really. So for fun I'll say Yanni Wetzell. He not only emerged as one of the biggest surprises in Aztec history, but he gave us an epic sports one-liner. "No ceiling, sir" should be the slogan for this program forever.

Has anybody mentioned Mr. "Ten toes down"? Not yet, but he'll always be one of my favorites just for that comment. It came when we needed it most thanks to "that writer who shall not be named."

Note favorite does not necessarily mean best, but there is a correlation. 1) x 2) Wetzel 3) slauter 4) Malachi 5) DJ 6) Josh Davis - even though he could not reliably hit a shot (even FT) from more than 6’Prior to fisher era: long ranger Favorite games, again not the most important but favorites 1) nm comeback - my all time favorite Aztec moment 2) nm home cinch of MW 3) Recent Gonzaga win 4) UCLA recent away win 5) Kansas away win As good as Josh was at grabbing offensive rebounds and making put backs there was no reason for him to even be 6' from the basket. True, except for the FT. I believe he air balled more FT than I have seen from all other aztecs over all the games I have watched. Still, he made my list. Hustle, aggressive, reliable/strong hands. Love the hustle. That more than anything is why he makes my list.

Top 3
1. Jamaal (fan favorite. did whatever he wanted to on the court. truly a fun guy to watch but also the type of guy you hate on the opposing team but love on yours)
2. X (Came in with extremely unreasonable expectations following the 2011 season and was a major factor in solidifying our program as a winner)
3. Kawhi (nuff said)
Honorable mention: Mehdi Cheriet (such a nice guy... one morning shortly after the end of our 34-3 season I was shooting around at the ARC by myself when Mehdi came up to me and started catching my rebounds and feeding me passes. We shot around for 30 minutes or so and didn’t talk basketball once. At the end, I congratulated him on the amazing season, shook his hand and wished him best of luck.

I've watched that last 11:39 at least 25 times since then. My wife and I ran out onto the court jumping up and down, screaming our lungs out after the game. 16-point deficit and a 19-1 Aztec run against the hated Lobos. I think I'll go watch it again! www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYuG1P1HMeY&t=771s

Good call! I forgot about Evan but not getting into UCLA was so big for us. Too bad he injured his knee and didn’t like studying. I agree with you that he would have probably gone down as an all-time favorite by Aztec fans.

Frenchy---Mehdi Cheriet!
And the guy who set the nc2a record for fouling out of a game the fastest in history---about one minute, IIRC.

OK, gonna get a lot of hate mail for this....however. I think J. Franklin transfers after one year with Dutch. On this team he could not get away with the technicals and "antics". For example, the pass to self off backboard was for 2 reasons.. draw attention to self. and show up opposition. I think Dutch pulls a player if he does it this year. The last year of J. Frank was unbearable. Watch J. Frank take the shot clock down to 3, then fire a 26% three or drive 1 on 4. You could say, but he had nobody else who could score! Notice Tapley did not get a high volume of shots that year. OK. fire away.
