I was going to title this thread Vote early. Vote Often. I decided not to, for fear I'd be accused of carrying water for Trump. Anyway, my wife and I voted by mail a couple of days ago. As usual, I voted Libertarian. Yes, it's nice not to have to go to the polling place, though doing the latter is not a big deal. What bothers me is that the system used in California is problematic. First, I think that in-person voting is the best system. Also, what is preventing me from sending in the ballot mailed to me and in addition requesting an absentee ballot? Also, I'm pretty sure that CA (and no doubt many other states) really do not do a good job of purging the invalid names from the voter polls. If you try to do that, you are bound to be called a racist. Again, in-person voting is the best (i.e., most secure) system. Best of all, and in no way an onerous burden on the voters, is to show a photo ID at the poll. Is mandating voter IDs racist? Well, note these racist countries that have voter ID requirements: Norway Northern Ireland Germany Switzerland Israel Mexico Iceland I'll add that notorious bastion of racism, Canada! AzWm

AzWm I am a permanent absentee voter. Received my ballot earlier this month, and on Tuesday, I did what I have always done--I took by ballot to the registrar's office and dropped it off in person.

what is preventing me from sending in the ballot mailed to me and in addition requesting an absentee ballot? Nothing, but if you vote in person and also return the absentee ballot then the absentee ballot will be thrown out. Also, if you do not vote in person and only return the absentee ballot but the screening algorithm comparing the scanned signature on your absentee ballot to the recorded signature on your voter record then your absentee ballot will be thrown out and your vote will not count. A lot of perfectly valid absentee ballots are thrown out in every election for signatures not matching. This fact was the reason for the Democrat party recently telling their voters to NOT mail in their ballots but to go vote in person instead. There is a fear that Republicans will vote in person and all of their votes will count while Democrats will mail in votes and have 5% - 10% of their votes thrown out for mismatched signatures. It is conceivable that more Democrats could vote but have fewer valid votes than the Republicans. If you thought the hanging chad controversy and subsequent Supreme Court intervention was a big deal, just wait. That was nothing compared to what is coming if things are close. As for the Libertarian vote, I couldn't do it in this election. I live in California and so my Presidential vote doesn't count, but I couldn't justify voting for Jo Jorgensen even when I know it doesn't count. She lost my vote on July 10 when she tweeted support for a Marxist organization. She almost immediately backtracked and said she was only supporting Critical Race Theory rather than any particular organization, but that is barely better. She lost my vote that day and the vote of almost every Libertarian I know.

Yes, the wife and I studied the voters pamphlet and filled out our ballots. We drove and dropped them in the Kenmore City Hall ballot box. 2 days later I traced our ballots and th hey had been accepted and processed.

Smooth process. Impressed with the ease at which they are adapting to the current times. Well-staffed and efficient.

Got my confirmation that my vote was received and will be counted on Sunday.
Just read that Florida's turnout as of a half hour ago was already equal to their 2016 turnout of 75%. People are showing up and it's wonderful.

Massive turnouts in Texas as well. Harris County has over 1.5 million votes cast, before noon. I'll be curious to see what the turnout nationwide total is.

Record turnout expected in Miami-Dade County as well, 1.2 million expected, 80% of the voting population.

Record turnout expected in Miami-Dade County as well, 1.2 million expected, 80% of the voting population. If the trend continues, it appears Trump has won Florida. As I type this, Biden has a 23,111 vote lead representing 1.03% of the ballots counted in Florida but that lead has been shrinking consistently all day. Going in to this contest it was thought the Democrats voted early while the Republicans would overwhelming the in-person voting. The data appears they got the scenario perfectly, and unfortunately for Biden his early votes don't seem adequate to hold off the in-person Trump votes. I'm just eyeballing it, but Trump should surpass Biden within the next 2 1/2 to 3 hours, and Trump's lead will continue to grow until Florida calls it for Trump. You can watch the Florida count in real time here: joeisdone.github.io/florida/

It's currently R +1.5 as of the latest count, with the R ballot shrinking hour over hour - The NPA's will go towards the Biden side heavily. We won't know anything until they start tabulating the votes, though. Anything R +2.5 or under is bad news for Donald. The Miami-Dade vote isn't live-tallied.

As a side note, I'm very much enjoying the monster day Trump is having in Miami-Dade. He's going to lose Miami-Dade and lose it bad but 2020 Trump is doing more than 4 points better than 2016 Trump in Miami-Dade. Biden is under-performing Hillary. Florida is Trump's.

I only wish the other important states were as transparent with their data as Florida is.

I voted absentee this year and was pleasantly surprised how quickly my ballot got to me across the country.
In Florida Gulf Coast, pickup trucks trailing Trump banners are very numerous, as are pro Trump lawn signs.
I can’t see a Biden win here.
