Per the CDC—-Recovery rates for COVID by age bracket.
Age 0-19 years....................99.9% Age 20-49 years..................99.98% Age 50-69 years..................99.5% Age 70 + .............................94.6%
Panic and fear is amazing.

Shocker, crappy masks aren't as effective as proper masks. Go figure. And sample/society wide trends suffer re. mask wearing vs. infection when idiots try to get away with wearing the crappiest "masks" possible.
Also... Breitbart isn't exactly a credible source.

The Breitbart article linked the CDC study - so what’s not credible?

Time to move this off the Aztecs sports site, it really is no longer about aztec sports and more about who has found the latest data to support THIER ideas.
You guys are doing a great job posting covid data but that is not what this site is for.

Here is a link (https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6942e2.htm#) to the real numbers from the CDC website.
ANALYSIS: The graphs 2/3 of the way down the page show the % of "excess deaths" in 2020 compared to a normal year. Every age group EXCEPT those 25 and under have seen a LARGE, statistically significant, increase in excess deaths this year.
CONCLUSION: Wear a mask.

This is only comparison that I could find, do you have different data? Week Number of Deaths 2019 Number of Deaths 2020 1 58,291 59,087 2 58,351 59,151 3 58,194 57,616kk 4 57,837 57,000 5 58,128 56,426 6 58,492 56,962 7 57,917 55,981 8 57,858 55,494 9 57,920 54,834 10 58,490 54,157 11 57,872 52,198 12 57,087 51,602 13 56,672 52,285 14 56,595 49,292 15 55,477 47,574 TOTAL 865,181 819,659 This is overall deaths, not just COVID deaths. But, true COVID deaths are difficult to determine. Wouldn’t you expect the number of overall deaths to have increased, not decreased? Just the increase in the population as well as the increase in the average age of the population, should result in more deaths. Curious, yes?

This is the first fifteen weeks of the years 2019 vs. 2020.
So for the year 2020, Week 15 is April 6th to April 12th.
The COVID death count was very low at that point in time (in the United States). We were quarantining to flatten the curve, to slow the initial spread of the disease.
What would be more interesting would be to look at the weekly death total from the start of the pandemic in the US (February or March?) to today.
There would still be a lot going on with that data set too - for example, you might expect vehicle deaths to be lower this year due to COVID, suicide/gun/drug death rates to be higher
But it would be interesting to look at over the entire period of the pandemic. This data is not showing that however.

I think the data you are looking for is here: www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htmThe orange line is the statistical divide between a death count in the expected normal range and would would be considered "excess deaths". Be aware that the last bar on the chart is not reliable due to delay in compiling statistics. It is interesting to note that in California since the third week of October we have been seeing no excess deaths at all. Our excess deaths peaked in the week of August 22 and have been dropping ever since. The number of Californians dying from all causes is now in the normal range as per the CDC.

You guys are doing a great job posting covid data but that is not what this site is for. I second the motion... I don’t know. Sometimes I get a good laugh at the responses of some psoters and their articles and how they defend them. I like how people defense non-sense and go down with the ship. I like the folks who think the world is ending vs we don’t even need masks. Or no one is even dying from COVID and it is a hoax so wake up America. Anyways, I am just joking and I am ready for the Hawaii game because our game manager needs to have a good comeback game. 😂 PS: I do think we just need to stop with all of this non-sense that is not Aztec Sports related. The Admin needs to put the hammer down as it is getting really old. Might be time for some temp suspensions or bans if folks can’t follow the rules. Taking away from the board.

Yes. Due to some requirements the FDA now has on their Phase 3 testing regime, I don’t know that it will be by November 1st but I don’t think it will get pushed into December. I still think November is where it happens. It will largely depend on how successful these advertisements are: www.blackenterprise.com/new-ad-encourages-minorities-to-participate-in-coronavirus-vaccine-trials/For those who don’t know, the FDA has put diversity requirements on the Phase 3 trials. This is what Trump was complaining about on Twitter in mid-August when he wrote “the FDA is making it very difficult for drug companies to get people in order to test the vaccines”. The drug companies have more than enough white volunteers to get the studies done now if race were not an issue but race is an issue and Black and Latinos haven’t been willing to volunteer in high enough numbers to satisfy the quota requirements. The drug companies have been paying community organizers, influencers, and even minorities directly to get them to sign up. Now they are running an advertising campaign. It is the single biggest hold-up right now. If you qualify you should seriously consider doing it but just don’t do the AstraZeneca one. Fair enough. Cheers and Go Aztecs! The latest word is the vaccines will be pushed in to December after all. We know they work. We know they are safe. Pfizer is completing their application for emergency approval as I write this and Moderna should have theirs done in about a week, but the FDA is refusing to even discuss either application until Tuesday morning, December 8. The review of both applications is going to take 3 days with the emergency approval for both Pfizer and Moderna to be given simultaneously at the end of business on Thursday, December 10. At least that is the industry rumor.

Enough is Enough already, lets keep this section of the board about SDSU and SDSU sports.
The title is "Aztec Sports and Conference Discussion"
The Mods need to keep things more SDSU sports related here, just move this thing over already if people want to talk about the latest on this they can go onto the other areas of this board.

Hmm I say let it ride, after all our beloved BBall team missed out on a one in a lifetime possible deep MM run due to this virus. I can’t think of anything more related and many of us will never forget what might have been a national championship or first time final 4 with Nathan’s return.

If First Responders are to be the first to get the vaccines, I wonder if SDSU can get the San Diego Sheriffs or SDPD to deputize the basketball team. A little outreach between law enforcement and sports wouldn't be a bad thing.

You have a brain unlike some. All these folks who minimize this illness should by all means go out and get it and see how they like it. But when you do don't come anywhere near me. Four people in my building have died from it. Three of them died from complications of the virus after they had assumed they were over it as they had eventually tested negative. We've got refrigerated trucks pulling up at morgues for the excess bodies and people still can't figure out that this is serious.
