Cal Berkeley? In Alameda County? One of the better highly populated counties in the state, at least as far as Gavin's color tier system is concerned, and they can't even field a team. But SDSU, in a more populated county, that is apparently on the cusp of going back into the most restrictive tier, has no problems, and will play tomorrow night.

Not sure if you're promoting the article or just providing it, but that was a wild ride. Just a few of my laundry list of criticisms:
"We're seeing a lot of anxiety, a lot of fear, a lot of sadness, a lot of sense of isolation," she says. --- Uh yeah that could be because there IS a lot of isolation because of shutdowns
She says some post-COVID-19 patients describe sleep problems and distressing dreams: "Like waking up and feeling like you're back into the hospital. Waking up remembering really difficult aspects of having COVID, where you felt like you couldn't breathe. You felt like you were going to die." --- PTSD can happen from any traumatic experience where someone almost dies. Luckily the death rate is around .1% and the average age of covid death in the US (78) is the same as the average life expectancy of someone in the US (78)
I can't believe multiple people must have signed off on publishing this. PS let's all make sure we don't sing or chant at our Thanksgiving celebrations per Gavin's orders (not making that up)
What a ridiculous fear mongering article

Yep. But, of course, it is NPR, so what could one expect?

Uh... Yeah, doc... Until you show me your Oxford U degree, I'll tend to trust the science coming from, ya know... Oxford University over "Bob the Guy on the Internet". From the article... "But aren't most of us experiencing some level of anxiety right now, given the global pandemic? What the study is talking about here is something more severe, says Harrison. "To get a diagnosis of an anxiety disorder, assuming the diagnostic tests were done correctly — this is more than simply the anxiety we're all feeling very, very reasonably because of the circumstances many people have lived through over the last few months." He also points to the design of the study, which compared mental health diagnoses in people recovering from COVID-19 with those in people recovering from other medical events during the same time period: "They're all comparisons made between January and August this year when everybody was living through COVID, regardless of the illness that had taken them to see their doctor in the first place." The researchers were able to differentiate somewhat for severity of COVID-19 cases — for instance, they found that someone hospitalized for COVID-19 had a higher risk of getting a psychiatric diagnosis than someone who did not need hospitalization. But the data did not offer enough granularity to say whether someone who was in an intensive care unit for COVID-19 was more likely to get a psychiatric diagnosis than someone who was in the ICU for something else." There's also side-order of dementia that they go on to talk about, but that's for another day. If you look at the the articles I have posted in this thread, they are for informational purposes only -- mostly for the benefit of players and staff at SDSU in case they haven't been provided such information, so that they can make their own informed decisions. That is the reason I am both providing and promoting this article.

I think that there are a lot of mental health issues right now. Some are related to the trauma of feeling like you are suffocating and being hooked up to machines for days or weeks, some are related to social isolation and depression due to shutdowns. I sympathize with both groups of people. And of course it is frustrating for students and young people to be castigated for going out (or wanting to go out), when we have a real mental health crisis among young people who have been profoundly impacted by these shutdowns.

It's nice that you aren't worried about this stuff. Four people have died of coronavirus in the last month in the building in which I live including a very good friend. We are likely to have more deaths due to this virus in one year than we had combat deaths in World War Two in four years. There is a reason why the United States has had such a difficult time with this virus. It is because many people have not taken it seriously.

My friend's kid knows a kid who committed suicide last month.
I wear a mask and try to keep my distance from people. I take it seriously but shutting down businesses and schools needs to be taken off the table as an option. It just can't happen. You're sacrificing one group of people for another whichever way you choose, so you may as well let people go about their lives and not have the government pick winners and losers

I know someone who developed depression issues due to the isolation of the lockdowns, fell into drugs as a result, and died of a OD two months ago. Nobody knew he OD'd, or even that he was doing opiates - he was doing them alone. So nobody could help him. People are dying due to the isolation of the lockdowns.

The mortality rate is greatly exaggerated to make you fearful. it has worked very well. Dr Fauci said dont wear a mask, then he said wear masks, we shut down the economy and it did not work, the virus is still here.

My next door neighbor, who is an internist and runs a clinic with 15 doctors brought this to my attention last weekend. He, for one, thinks it's ludicrous that society is being shut down due to this virus - especially schools..... Interesting piece below: Jensen said, "Hospital administrators might well want to see COVID-19 attached to a discharge summary or a death certificate. Why? Because if it's a straightforward, garden-variety pneumonia that a person is admitted to the hospital for – if they're Medicare – typically, the diagnosis-related group lump sum payment would be $5,000. But if it's COVID-19 pneumonia, then it's $13,000, and if that COVID-19 pneumonia patient ends up on a ventilator, it goes up to $39,000." Anyone that thinks these lockdowns aren't substantially about power and money are naive........follow the money folks!

Then how do you explain hospitalization rates skyrocketing, ICUs in some cities completely full, and El Paso bringing in 10 refrigerated trucks to hold dead bodies because the morgues are full? Not to mention some people ending up with chronic heart and lung problems even after they have “recovered”. Can’t recall that ever happening in a normal flu season.
